Good points. I think something I'm seeing is that a few of these features are already present, but many people don't know about them due to confusing wording. I can certainly work on making sure buttons and labels properly describe their function in a clear fashion.
Suggesting the most common tags in a given category is a good idea, or a good start at the least. The submission guidelines do actually suggest tagging tips currently, but I could include a list of tags that are helpful and common as well.
Make mojis possible - It's not just emojis. There are a lot of extra-ansi characters that the site chokes on. Definitely one we'll look into fixing. :)
Translate the site - Good idea. If anyone is fluent in other languages, we could use all the volunteers we can get.
Markdown formatting instead of HTML - I agree. Don't have any idea how embedded the current markup is. Will have to look into that for drupal. We'll need to make sure switching to markdown won't break the formatting of all the existing posts, though.
More AJAX - Suggestion noted.
Mobile version of site - I haven't seen a good mobile version of any site in my life. The current site seems to work fine for my mobile device, other than the fact I need to zoom in on stuff a lot. Will need some good examples of how it would be laid out. Anyone know of a good example of a site that has a nice mobile version?
Font category, Turtorial category - I agree there should be a consensus on how fonts are categorized, though I think the vagueness of "document" was intentional as a catch-all for any other thing that doesn't fit anywhere else. The impression I got from bart is that tutorials already fit better as a forum post (thus the "tutorials" forum) than as an art submission.
Emoji picker - Agreed. That may come hand-in-hand with Markdown.
Custom emoji set - Interesting. Though these emoji's are technically already possible: It isn't very convenient, but it will work until we can add such feature.
Extended emoji set - (Same as above)
Modern site appearance - Suggestion noted.
Submission preview - Agreed. There technically is a preview function for submissions, it just isn't working for some reason. Definitely on the list of things we plan to fix.
Librapay widget - Suggestion noted. Already on the admin list as well. :)
Reduce preview animation duration - I need some clarification. I have not seen any delay in animations in previews. Are you referring to the transition when moving from one preview image to the next? I'm not sure that's something that can be reduced much. The preview images can be enormous, so to save bandwidth, the site doesn't pre-load them. The delay between previews is the time it takes the site to send the full-sized-image to your browser.
Default submission description and attribution instructions - That's a good idea. Not just default text for submissions, but also the ability to change the default in your preferences and have it change on all the submissions that use that text, so you can adjust the verbiage on all your submissions at once instead of having to edit each one at a time.
Delete submissions/collections w/o Admin involvement - I agree about collections, but I thought this is already possible for art submissions. They are archived the moment you click "request deletion".
Improved audio preview player widget - Good idea, though I don't think it will save on bandwith; the full audio data is sent to the client browser regardless of how much of it is listened to, even with a pause/stop/play and seek bar. Right-clicking on an audio download link and selecting "open link in new tab" approximates this functionality on most browsers.
Automatic preview generation - Cool. Good idea.
3D preview widget - Good idea.
Automatic audio format conversion - Good idea. Not sure how well it may work if the source file is lossy or MIDI. Different converters result in different sounding audio for the same file.
Mastadon widget - Not a bad idea, but supporting specific social media platforms has mixed results. Flattr for example. I know it's not social media, but the site implemented a very specific form of currency sharing and it ended up with very limited adoption. Now Librapay seems to be a better choice and we plan to implement that, but how do we decide which to implement as part of the site? Often the most effective way to allow people to share their preferred social media association is with a simple URL: "find me on twitter! https://twitter.com/medicinestorm" for example. By implementing a widget specific to mastadon we will inevitably get questions like "why don't you have a widget for facebook/tumblr/snapchat/deviantart/instagram?"
Hidable comments/followers/friends/favorites list - I... think that's possible, but I don't know how much of a benefit it is. I've used those features to find a conversation in which i remembered a specific phrase, but couldn't remember where it was said. Is this a privacy concern? That information would still be public if not convenient to find.
Move Project URL to sidebar - Why? You want the project link to be a less prevalent component of the profile page?
Social Media information widgets on profile page - Instead of the Project Link, we could probably just have a Markdown enabled description field on the profile that allows URLs. That way people could link to whatever social media they wish and give descriptions of each.
Collect/favorite submissions from gallery page - Interesting... I like it.
Items per page selection - Like on the main page? Good idea. Or do you mean on the search list? That's already possible. There's an "Items per page" dropdown.
Display gallery as list+description vs tiles - A view mode. Interesting.
Download All button - How often is downloading a submission's files individually an inconvenience? The average download file amount per submission is about 2.5. Some have as many as 15, but it doesn't take me long to click them all and download them in parallel.
Display example dags when submitting - Yes! I don't know if a tag improvement will be implemented in quite this way but we difinitely plan some improvements to tags. There are tens of thousands of legitimate tags. They aren't sorted by art category currently. How would the site know which of thousands of the most popular/useful tags are appropriate for the submission at hand?
Good suggestions! There may be a valid reason some of these features operate the way they do and I'm just not aware of the reason. Not all of these may be feasible due to the way site's framework operates. Never-the-less these are some good ideas that we'll keep in mind as we improve the site. @MNDV.ecb: If you can come up with a proof of concept widget for that, I'd love to experiment with getting it implemeneted. :)
some assets with 8 directions like you're referring to are not tagged with anything related to that. Sometimes you can find the ones lacking any sort of 8-direction tag by searching for the tags "sprite", "sprite sheet", or "spritesheet" and also "iso", or "isometric".
As you can see, all the tags I've mentioned have an alias, so we're (me and the other admins) are working on a way to consolidate tag aliases so searching for one will show the results for both instead of having to wade through a buch of different versions of tags that all mean the same thing. It's a somewhat long-term goal, though.
In my stuff, I only use one frame for the character, but it is rotated at the same angle as the rope. It takes a bit of trigonometry, but it actually looks pretty good having the character assume the position and angle of the bottom portion of the rope. Though I've seen some games animate the character as they swing with details like hair and clothing flowing in the wind etc. I think that looks even better, but I don't have the animation skill to pull it off:
Perfect timing for this, Bonsaiheldin. Admins are working on getting the site into a position to make exactly this sort of improvements. I can't promise anything because there are some very major updates and adjustments that have to be made to the site first, but so far it's looking good. :)

Re: Discord: Kinda supplanting IRC. I think IRC will always have it's place, but according to the marketing company I'm talking to, Discord is the #1 hip place to hang out and share information... even if we weren't about video games, apparently, but even moreso since OGA is about games. I use Discord all the time to talk to friends and fellow gamers and game creators, but I hadn't considered this before for some reason.
This isn't about commercializing anything, just growing the support base. :)
No problem. Will do, and I agree... Are you saying "please* don't make it so that other people can add people" or are you saying "adding you won't make it so that you can add other people"?
Understood. Again, I agree. I will be sure to tread carefully and let you know if that happens before responding/reacting. Also, any posts by the marketing company are always approved by the client before being posted and they are obviously careful to always be diplomatic.

There's also https://opengameart.org/content/shell-1 and https://opengameart.org/content/simple-lineart-undersea-creature-tile-set
I think Zabin (& bluecarrot16) had a set with 32x32 seashells. Let me find it...
EDIT: Found it: https://opengameart.org/content/zrpg-beach Are the seashells in this set the kind of thing you're looking for?

There are two related tags: "8 direction", and "8-direction". https://opengameart.org/art-search-advanced?field_art_tags_tid_op=or&fie...

You're allowed. :)
...And great idea. I'm joining now.
I don't know if it's quite the same style, but there's some similar iso stuff in the Roguelike Tiles collection: https://opengameart.org/content/roguelike-tiles-large-collection
EDIT: D'oh! you said Ortho, not Iso. Sorry. I'll keep looking.
