@WithTheLove: @Chasersgaming: no, still working on getting access to them. It's a bit like recovering a password to an email account that sends the new password to that email account.
@Spring, @AnthonyMyers: Good point about palettes. I think they can apply to all the art categories.
@Joth: Nice. I can definitely see a location theme working well.
@WithTheLove, @AnthonyMyers: I'll bank Hobbies and Urban Legends for future challenge topics. Definitely good ideas.
Looks like Missing Link has a slight consensus over the others and it works well leading up to the Game Jam, too. I'll announce the Art Challenge shortly. These are some good challenge ideas! I'm excited to put all these themes to good use for the next several challenges.
My favorite palette (DB32, NES, SMS) Pretty obvious how this applies to game art, though I wonder how it could apply to sound effects and music.
Tricks and treachery (sinister villains, devious puzzles, tricks of the mind, clever traps) I love traps and I would love to see a set of art/sound/music that explores the crafting of clever devices meant to ensnare or maim the unwary.
Missing link (something missing from the sequence. Perhaps a resource you once had a link to but now it's gone 404 so you've recreated something similar?) I like that this one can serve as a sort of fill-in for "well, I was looking for this specific thing on OGA, but couldn't find it. Guess I should make it myself and share!"
If anyone has a preference or is particularly inspired by one, say so soon. I'll decide on one early tomorrow and announce the new Art Challenge and the soon-to-follow Game Jam on the main page.
:)
1920x1920? That's like 60 pixels per pixel! Why not just a 32x32 sprite that anyone can scale up?

Oh. I see. Confusion over where rules were listed. Chasers, are you able to edit the OP to include a link to the new itch game jam landing page?
the "the rules" section of the itch page seem pretty straightforward to me. Maybe they could be given a summary header for each rule?
Would that help?
Also, any (most) art that was submitted as part of an Art Challenge has the tag "challenge". This includes all the much older art challenges as well: https://opengameart.org/art-search-advanced?&field_art_tags_tid=challenge

Isn't there already a list of links?
Can do. Should I link directly to the itch.io page, then? Or should I link to this thread instead?
Ok, here's the ones I think seem the best:
