Great. Thank you. That texture does indeed require attribution. Please edit the submission to include the proper attribution and link above. Please do the same for your other submissions that use similar composite textures. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. :)
Until the attribution can be added, I have to mark this as having a licensing issue. The flag will be removed as soon as attribution is included, of course. Flag removed :)
Freepik almost always requires attribution, which has not been done. Can you provide a link to the specific textures you're referring to?
Even when the license is equivalent to public domain, it is still a good idea to link to the source textures so others can be sure they're free to do with your assets as they please. :)
Interesting. Why such a long texture? Is this a composite of other textures?
P.S.: Tagging art in the "texture" category as "2D", "texture", and "gameart" is unneccessary. Everything on the site is game art. See https://opengameart.org/content/art-tags for more tips on effective art tags.
I think I understand your concern, but people attributing you with the quality of their own derivatives or implying the catchup-covered-cake had your endorsement would be a violation of the copyright on their part.
CC-BY-SA 3.0 section 4(c) "...You may not implicitly or explicitly assert or imply any connection with, sponsorship or endorsement by the Original Author..."
Why wouldn't this still be a concern for the original artist as well? Should Skorpio be concerned you will take his art and soil his name as an artist since you might include it in a low quality production?
This license is meant to perpetuate the spirit of sharing. "You can use this art, you don't even have to pay for it, but you have to agree to keep sharing like I did." I don't think that goal is being hindered.
"By the 'Sharealike' license, exactly how much do I have to republish?"
Anything you make that uses any part of this asset must be shared under the same license with (partial) credit given to this author.
"Attached is an example animation I have created. Do I need to share this, and everything I create with the parts? ..."
Yes.
"... How does that work?"
Uploading the assets you created here to OGA is one way. Be sure to give the proper credit in the Copyright/Attribution instructions section. Another way is simply to make it apparent in your game that the particular animation is available under the above license with proper credit listed. For example, list the following in your credits file and on your game's credit screen:
"Do I need to republish, every single frame of every animation that I create?
If the animation in question uses any part of Skorpio's work, yes.
"Can I omit special ships that I'd like to be genuinely unique to my game and not downloaded hundreds/thousands of times once I republish?"
Only if those genuinely unique ships used absolutely no part of Skorpio's work.
"Or at least reserve my animation of said ships, and only republish the static models?"
Nope. If the animations use any part of skorpio's work, the whole animation must be shared under the same license with proper attribution given. However, you may request a separate proprietary license from Skorpio allowing you to keep your derivatives non-libre. I recommend sending such a request via PM. There is, however, no guarantee he will agree to do so.

The youtube plugin was disabled due to all the spammers that were using it. It also uses an older model of youtube link that youtube no longer supports. The best way to add a video to your post is to post a still image, then set that image as a link to the youtube video.
@Ninja Happy Squid: I'm guessing it's to be compatible with the popular DawnBringer palette. Has a nice nostalgic look, makes it easier to edit, and makes it compatible with all other DB pixel art.

I see. How was it made?

No opinion on theme, but I did think rewarding the use of OGA assets was a great feature. I might be biased there, though. :)
Looks like it was only implemented as an Admin feature. What collection(s) would you like deleted?
