Writing an inane post with broken grammar and then insulting someone when it confuses them is pretty bad form, bluenose10. I thought you were probably a spambot before I read your reply, and I'm still not 100% sure. If you want to get a meaningful reply you'll need to be more specific about what you're having trouble with.
Demetrius brings up a very important point. You can ask for contact as a courtesy but it cannot be required without conflicting with the license. Could you clarify, Gomer?
Excellent. You've got all the right answers, and it sounds like you have a great chance at succeeding. All id add, then, is that you should lead with that. There are plenty of people clueless enough to ask for money after making basic walking work, and you really don't want to look like one of them. Anyway, ill be watching this and hopefullyv throwing in some cash as well.
First, I'm glad to see someone using OGA rpg assets, and I appreciate you posting about it here.
That said, while I am intrigued I have only gotten two facts from your page: you (Paul) are a published specfic writer (whose work looks interesting to me) and the game is going to be expanded monthly. OK, those are both good points and they definitely interest me. But that is literally all I know. Here are a few more questions you should be answering:
a) who is involved? Is it a one-man show with Paul (it's unclear what Mandrake's relationship is to the project)? If so, that's perfectly fine, lots of great games have been made that way, but it's kind of unclear. When I'm considering plunking money down to support a project I'd like to know how likely it is to succeed, which means knowing who is working on it and what their experience is.
b) how far is development thus far? The video didn't show much, and seemed to linger far too long on the character creation (a necessary part of the game but not exactly fascinating). If all you can do right now is walk around and talk to NPCs, then you're probably too early along to ask for money. Loads of devs make it that far but then stall when they are confronted with the more difficult and less rewarding realities of RPG development. And if the game is actually further along, show us that stuff.
c) what are your plans for asset development? OGA has a lot of resources for 16x16 resolution RPGs, but it's really not enough for a full-fledged game. That applies double if you're doing dragon warrior style front-view battles. There are a whole lot of side-view rpg enemies available here on OGA, maybe enough to keep you going for a while, but even then you're going to need custom graphics long term, and especially if you want development to follow your writing rather than the other way around. So you're going to need at least one skilled artist, and that can get expensive real quick.
@ Q_X: "Cerendir, you surely know, what "hobby" is. People aren't doing stuf to be admired by others, but mostly for their own sense of acomplishment or to enable other people to fullfill their dreams, which is satisfactory enough by itself."
Uh... I'm kinda wondering if you know what a hobby is. Some people are entirely self-motivated, but it's far from universal, especially with game assets (which are, after all, made to be used). If I didn't get any feedback I probably wouldn't be nearly as interested in putting stuff up under free licenses.
I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm not in this for the money, but I've found that posting here has gotten me a lot of exposure and a fair amount of paid work (though some of it was indirect, through contacts I made here or what have you). I imagine the music side of things is pretty different from pixel art, though.
I don't understand what you're saying, Teken. CC0 assets have absolutely no restrictions on usage. There's no reason to not include it in your game unless you suspect the licensing wasn't legitimate (ie, it was wrongly put on by someone other than the author).
You can also use OGA-By without issue as long as you properly give credit as specified.
Test. Test post to see if it shows up in recent posts.
Edit: that would be a no. Uh... this happens sometimes. What you should try next is to make a new thread. Bart can fix this but I don't know how.
Some of the visual assets in the preview are from the Hero Machine, a classic fantasy dressup app. Not PD.

I'd like to take another crack at a miniboss challenge. That one was fun.
