As an artist, what I'd really like is for people to actually use the art I contribute, and I feel like CC-BY is what will interest developers of all sorts most (other than PD, of course, but yeah). I feel like the requirement that OGA be linked to in the credits (which goes with commissions, but which I would recommend otherwise as well) limits people from some of the more ridiculous possibilities, anyway.
This is definitely true. If there were active requests on the forums I would probably do much more for people. It's a little frustrating making stuff for hypothetical projects.
I tried the demo, and I liked what I saw. It reminds me of a number of old games which I enjoyed a lot back in the day. I'll be watching its progress.
Just one question, though: is the four eq slots thing fixed in place, or something that might be edited later/by a user/developer? One thing I really like in such games is aquiring a vast array of "sw33t loot," and of course more slots would mean more swag on display, even if it also meant more asset making (of course, I also enjoy making equipment assets, so I might not be the best one to think through such obstacles).
I've spent a long time working with games in this selfsame perspective (more in the tradition of Tibia, though, which blatantly borrowed and stole from U7), and as such I've seen a lot of discussion on this topic. Probably the most thorough (if wordy) explanations I've seen was here: http://forum.phobosonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4815 if anyone is interested in looking at it more. Though to be honest it's not too hard to get the hang of the perspective just through practise.
And I must apologize for this sorta necro post, I've been away, but this is the one topic I know anything about... xD
My apologies for not getting something in in time. School has been rather intense, and I've also had a few other pixelling projects going on, so there you have it... Still, I'll try to make a contribution eventually; it seems like a very nice project.
I think it looks more like a heater shield.
This brings me right back to fifth grade, making a cell out of Jello®, beans and spaghetti. Great stuff!

Wow, thanks! I really feel like this means a lot, too, having had a look at your gallery.
I like the design, but the empty space on the right bugs me. Is that just part of the mockup, or would that be an actual issue?
