Nice. I used to dismiss this style of pixel art as simplistic, but now I can really appreciate just how much detail you guys can put into such a small space....especially the shading. Well done.
It's probably not that big of a deal, but I noticed the preview stills on this and your past work all have a "halo" or "outline" on them. The sprite strips look great, as do the preview animations....it's just the stills that have the distoration It would be a shame if somebody missed out on your great work because they only looked at the still.
It's not a criticism by any stretch (I love your work and so do my kids!), just an observation. Unfortunately, I don't know why nor can I suggest a fix, but maybe one of the veteran contributors can?
Only feedback is that the highlight stands out a bit as a vertical column when you tile these across a larger surface (256 x 256), but that's hardly a deal-breaker...in fact it would work very well for a manicured surface and probably wouldn't even be noticeable if used in a platformer or tower defense.
