Game!
By completing the game, you will creating the engine.
The next game can further enhance and extend the engine.
Whichever direction you take, I will continue to eagerly anticipate each release, and future games.

This is how I compile Flare
Sunday, April 1, 2012 - 01:14

This is how I compile Flare using Code::Blocks on Windows 7.

Firstly install the Code::Blocks IDE, found here -> http://www.codeblocks.org/
Next you will need the SDL development && the runtime libraries. -> http://www.libsdl.org/index.php
Also you may need to update your mingw. -> http://www.mingw.org/

Once you have those installed you need to create a project and add all the flare files to it, then dont forget to link to SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, SDL_mixer.

If you get stuck you can use my project files. -> http://www.physhexgames.co.nr/uploads/5/9/6/4/596446/flare_code-blocks_p...

If you use my project files, you wont need to use cmake. ;)

Hope this helps you some.

Great idea!
My suggestion on a future addition would be the inclusion of some form of pathway.
Pathways are useful for a variety of game types, possibly a pebble / stone path?

If a programmer or person in
Sunday, January 1, 2012 - 05:51

If a programmer or person in any field creates something new and unique, then I would consider that person to have invented something. If they invent with inventing as a goal I would consider them to be an inventor. Looking at a programmer specifically I wouldn't consider a programmer an inventor unless he created something significant enough to be considered and invention. For example the first high level computer language or network protocol, or the first compression algorithm could possibly be identified as an invention. But for someone to code their own "pong" game, well then I would just think that to be a creation. And as such they are developers or even creationists?
Just my thoughts on the matter...

Those traffic cones remind me

Those traffic cones remind me of VLC media player.
Maybe when a child makes and error it could be helpful to the child if the game told them what they did wrong, and not just make an error noise. Maybe if the child does not perform a correct action within a certain time, the game could display a useful hint.
