"The artists we've commissioned have, as a rule, all been very open to comments. My pixel art skills are iffy at best, so I don't have a perfect eye -- if you have comments on their art that might help them improve, my guess is they'll be happy to hear you out. :)"
I definitely agree on this one. Though I have a fair amount of general pixel art experience, I've still got a lot to learn about certain important aspects of the art (animation being one of the major examples). I would definitley appreciate some more specific comments so I can improve the quality of my work.
Seriously, though, sprites aren't necessarily pixel art--they're 2-D assets, but they could be painted or w/e.
Unfortunately, the only engine I know that meets the description is RPG maker (pictured in the first post, I think?), which of course isn't OS. That doesn't mean there isn't one, but from my brief searches I didn't find any free RPG engines beyond those posted above.
After a little play it froze and the bg turned white. sound continued, but nothing else.
Still, neat little game. Reminds me a lot of Galactic Arms Race (I wish they'd do more on it, though it seems like development may have ceased?)
Oh heck yes.
@Brandon: it was suggested in the last challenge thread. Also, I assume, because Steampunk is awesome.

Made me think of this for some reason: http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/8p8 (last panel).
This is top-notch work! Great job!
Exciting stuff! I'm really enjoying watching this progress.
Funnily enough, I thought of doing that as a joke, but it looked like a lot of work (and, frankly, those pics creep me the heck out...)

I think that swamp creature is my favorite of all of the 16x18 characters so far! Great job on these!
...Don't make me come over there... xD
