We are working on a better solution that also requires depth maps. Currently we are working on the demo, all of us has other jobs, making the process slow.
Amazing, is there a chance for you to publish 3D models of these? If not, depth + normal map renders would be very nice too. They are needed for pixel shaded 2D games ;)
Single entry per author on latest art might confuse people but may help to solve the issue. For instance, I visit the site very often, when I dont see any familiar submissions in latest art on front page, I will go ahead and check latest art. However, if someone publishes two entries in sequence and only one of them is shown, I might just loose the chance to see it.
Also, in my desktop I can read first blog entry to the last line without scrolling. I think it would be possible to add another line of recent art. I definitely would not mind scrolling on my laptop.
@Danimal: there is currently a method that determines popularity. But that said, I think its not a very valid method. Finding something nice does not constitute adding it to favorites, as you may want to keep favorites to the items you want to find easily or may be items that you are planning to use. A better ranking method would be nice.
Seems like a good opportunity to use new blender tool, bisect.
There is one game engine that is already using normal maps:

Done. Thanks for the idea. The font is boxy bold by Clint: http://opengameart.org/content/boxy-bold-font
Oh, nice, a bit bulky but will do. In that case, let me do the textbox.

Quite nice but needs textbox and scrollbar.

Well, my submission got burried by those :(
Hurray, I will give it a try this weekend. I have half finished mage city, waiting just for this.
