Yes, please share it with the others too. GPLv3 should be fine, I am 100% sure the original author wouldn't object.

Ok that sounds great.

Ok that sounds great.

Yes we sould probably try and contact the original author, but if he can't be reached I would say that shouldn't hold us back as releasing it under the GPLv3 is a save bet according to the intentions of the original author.

Ahh, when I first posted this the: http://irrlichtirc.g0dsoft.com/omaremad/ link was still working. Seems like the domain expired 1st of May or so :(

I searched a bit on google and this might have a working file for windows:

http://download.swiborg.com/software/

but I am still downloading it to see.

I don't think you can really make it a standalone version as it seems to rely on GIMP heavily. But having a good and easy to install GIMP plugin would be equally nice, no?

Thanks for offering.

Thanks for offering.

I am not sure either where to get the source. I assumed that since it is a phython plugin for GIMP any distribution should include the scripted python code, but vk mentioned the .deb is not complete or something like that. Maybe install and check the windows version and see if the python code can be extracted.

Licensing is also not quite clear, but by the (empty) google code page I guess one can assume the authors intention was to have it under the GPLv3.

Maybe try to contact the original author via the irrlich forums?

Texture is a bit bland, but otherwise pretty solid model!

Didn't want to sound pessimistic, but I still think you are going to have a hard time getting sufficient funds by donations. Those high unique page-views is likely an artifact of a lot of wanna-be game-developers in their teens which will never shell out some hard cash.

What you could do is offer content management (I outlined it here before: http://freegamer.blogspot.com/2012/12/devcorner-professionalize-your-art... ) for serious game projects. Just make everything up to 250mb free or so, and charge a modest amount above that. I am sure quite a few projects would appreciate the service, as AFAIK there isn't anything comparable out there... and it would give you a pretty steady stream of revenue.

Some nice suggestions for site improvements here, but no-one is talking about the obvious issue here: It's highly unlikely that you will get sufficient subscriptions to quit your normal job. At best it might work for a month or two, but then you are back to square one. And imho, you would be just disappointed how little people seem to apprechiate your efforts (which is not necessary true, but donations are a strange beast).

Arg, I didn't notice that.

Arg, I didn't notice that. Strange though that the .deb doesn't include all the python files needed. Hmm maybe we can contact the original author through the irrlich forums...

Nice ones, although a bit blurry close up (the 2048 could probably scaled down to 1024 without any detail loss because of that).

Too bad they don't include a normal or spec map.

Uhmm... you can't really specify another license (even if close in spirit) in the description when you chose CC0 as the license.

Otherwise... not a bad start for a gun, but IMHO not really in a state that it could be usefull to anyone, and could be probably made in a matter of 15 minutes at most (e.g. no real point of posting it here on OGA).
