I think the field of view in Nox is a matter of taste. I have to admit I've never played Nox myself, but, from what I've seen from the videos you posted, I think I would be quite confused and it would make me mad. But, on th other hand, it's quite realistic. So, in my opinion, it should be implemented into the engine, but only as an additional option to some standard lighting system.
@Clint:
I could give it a shot if you wish so. But, as I've only little experience in SDL by now, don't expect the result to look too great nor to be done too soon.
There are a couple of nice tutorials made by OGA users, some of them out in the www, some even here in the forums. But sadly, the "Articles & Tutorials" menu entry covers only two articles/tutorials. I think it would be a great idea to bundle all those tutorials (or, at least, links to all those tutorials) on a single page. This would help newbies (such as myself) to get to know some basic workflows / skills more easily.
Can I still join? I could probably help on friday evening and saturday nearly the whole day, doing smaller coding jobs.
Edit: Oh, yes, I may also design a background story for the game and it's characters, as I think I'm quite good at this.

Seriously, that's probably the most stunning model i've ever seen on oga ;-)

Finally - the first update!
Have fun!
Maybe we could add an own section for complete game packs / starter sets in OGA 2.0 to encourage people to submit such packs?
thanks ;-)
btw, i'm planning to add some new stuff to this package asap
Hi,
this is my submission to this challenge:
http://opengameart.org/content/space-starter-kit
It's a starter kit for a Galaga style game.
