Re: Unified Bestiary Project
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 - 11:10

I like the idea of a bestiary project, but i think it should be possible to have different designs for one creature, as long as they aren't completely contrary to its "common idea". This common idea should be defined by some rather general characteristics that have to be respected (1) followed by specific details that can (but don't need to) be respected (2) , e.g.:

(1)Goblins are small, weak and commonly coward humanoids.

(2)They often have green skin and huge ears and tend to be crazy about explosives.

These defintions should be included into the description of every single creature's thread.

Btw, here are some creatures you could add to your list:

- Sphinx

- Harpy

- Chimera

- Hydra

- Gryphon

- Basilisk

- Phoenix

- Satyr

- Cerberus

- Pegasus

- Lion

Clint, do you still have the source blender files of those enemies you did not add to FLARE? If yes, it would be great if you could upload them as well.

Dunno whether tiis was already mentioned, but a search function for the forums would be great.

Re: Test my game engine
Sunday, May 1, 2011 - 09:44

I tried to compile it using your shell script, but i got the following error message:

In file included from /usr/include/FTGL/ftgl.h:32:0,
                 from /home/thomas/Simple-C---Game-Engine/engine/scge.hpp:21,
                 from /home/thomas/Simple-C---Game-Engine/engine/engine.cpp:1:
/usr/include/ft2build.h:56:38: fatal error: freetype/config/ftheader.h: No such file or directory.

I think this is because you don't add the include paths of the libraries you are using to your project in your CMakeLists.txt's, but I am not shure...

Re: Fool Goblin Shaman

Nice, I really love this guy, although he rather looks like some kind of priest than like a shaman to me. Oh, and I don't know whether this is intended, but the hat seems odd. It might fit better into his outfit if it was of the same color as his dress.

I finally found the time to update the installer. I am aware that it doesn't create desktop icons or start menu entries by now, but I will try to integrate these features soon.

I'd suggest to rename this forum to Last Escape, too?

What kind of workflow shall we go for, btw? Subversion style (all pushing to this single repository) or rather creating our own forks and using pull requests to merge them to this repository as soon as our task is done?

My github name is also CruzR.

Re: Libraries, and favored genres

I came across SFML some days ago and i'd actually love to use it in this project. It comes with so many powerful features we had to write on our own if we were using SDL, thus hopefully speeding up the development quite a bit. And i think development speed is the main issue on 48 hour contests ;-)
