I have a neat idea for a 3D rts where you play as armies of insects battling it out admist the grass and rocks.

Bart, as far as a wesnoth rpg goes, there are already two projects which aimed at the same thing, no doubt a lot of code could be scavenged from them

I've been teaching myself L systems for this challenge, however these are probably the only things that will get finished in time for the challenge.

MeshLab's Quadratic Edge Collapse Decimation is pretty damn good if you use all the slow accurate options, you have to admit, turning a 2,600,000 face model into 3,000 face model without losing much detail is pretty awesome.  I will try give repotologizing another go though :)

Re: Sources of creative commons 3D models

Nasa has a page of its 3D models that are not copyrighten unless otherwise marked

http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/3d_resources/models.html

ShareCG has a whole searchable section marked "unrestricted use" In the license section it says free for any use whatsoever, which I'd guess means public domain

adrix89 Perhaps, however since its a packed .blend file, it is a 3D model, even if anyone could make the cube itself.
