I've been deleting spam (and deleting the spammer's account) and not just unpublishing it. However, I'm seeing a lot of spam being unpublished by another admin and the spammer's account is left undeleted and unblocked. Should I not be deleting spam or spam accounts?
dead? I don't know. I'll have to check into that. public domain photo? obviously that falls into the "permission to use it is explicitly granted" category.
Unfortunately, it looks like using the likeness of celebrities (or non-celebrities) is a murky area unless permission to use it is explicitly granted for the given use. I think this asset is hilarious and I'd rather it remained available, but OGA has to be the place where our assets are not legally murky.
I try to avoid this kind of "It's all good, no wait maybe not, ok yeah it's fine, or is it?" rollercoaster, so please accept my apologies, but I'm afraid assets portraying the likeness of real people can't be hosted here. :(
Thanks for all your help with the site. I really appreciate it. :)
Sure! My goal is to handle all the monotonous small stuff so you don't have to spend your limited time on it. Hopefully freeing you up to handle the larger things that I can't (like the search indexing. yay!) I know you have little time with your family and job, so thanks for bringing the big guns when you can. :)
Quick edit: To be clear, that post with Trump's likeness will probably have to come down based on the legal issues with likenesses. Unfortunately, we're going to have to thoroughly explain any reversals of admin decision, because people tend to get mad about that.
Understood. I'll draft a response to that explaining that new legal information has come to my attention and, unfortunately, likenesses of people are murky so we will not be able to host the asset. As for similar cases, there is also the likeness of rick grimes (andrew linkcoln) that Master Redshrike flagged until the character name was removed. Should we re-flag that one as well, with a similar explaination and apology?
EDIT: also, dorothea the cat lady is still flagged licensing issue, but because of the image on her T-Shirt looking very much like a photo ripped from google search. However, that image on the T-Shirt may fall under the likeness rule as well. Same?

Weird. I thought I got both of you at the same time... anyway, you should also be good to go, now. :)
Yeah. In that photo's case, they make it a little more clear-cut:
"murky"

The post doesn't, but replies to it (and any other post in this forum) do: http://opengameart.org/user/3656/comments
Some new legal information has come to light concerning using someone's likeness. http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/using-name-or-likeness-another

Let me know if you have any questions.
Cool. Would you be able to link to the specific texture(s) you used from darkwood67's gallery?
