Hey there. I'm an "experienced Java dev". I couldn't get to run it from eclipse. Kept on getting the following error:

nested exception is com.db4o.ext.Db4oException: File format incompatible: 'data/server.db4o'

I tried your script, but it also failed with:

Initialisation did not complete.  Please check the file 'songofblood-server.out' for potential error messages.

I checked -server.out and it spat out the same error I was getting in Eclipse.

For the record, I downloaded the same tarball that was available in http://opengameart.org/content/song-of-blood-1

Edit: Nevermind. I removed server.db4o and replaced it with server-v13.db4o and it worked. I'll post a review of the game on Tuesday :-)

Edit 2: There seem to be issues with the DB. I created a character, and after the 'bio' I was unable to click on 'OK'.

After that, i refreshed the page, it said 'welcome back Nushio', i clicked 'here' to start the game, and it gave me an error.

com.db4o.ext.DatabaseClosedException
net.pennyblood.web.PlayerHome.doGet(PlayerHome.java:39)

Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video! Watching 'Maskman' show up and be killed was quite a joy, haha. I'm glad someone found it useful :-)

The game's mechanic looks interesting, It's sort of a shmup but on the ground, with a detective with a laser gun? Hah. I'll try it after the contest ends :-)

I wrote a review about your game: http://k3rnel.net/2012/08/11/lpc-game-review-afterimage/

I'm looking forward to updates on the game, as I think it's one of the best ones I've played so far (though I've only played 15/48). Its a shame that the ending isn't finished. I had a very similar problem with my game, the ending also cuts off suddenly, hah. I wish they had given us that extra week.

Yeah, I know it's his game, I meant "thanks for telling me where the script was".

Did you manage to defeat the king? Did the screen go black? Or is there something else? I hear music playing and I believe, the sound of rain, but it won't go past one stab at the king.

Oh, and I decided to host it

Oh, and I decided to host it on my server so people can play your game. I'm currently hosting v1.1. I added a small "index.html" to the main page so that the user doesn't have to go inside scripts or use that nefarious lnk file.

Feel free to use it! :-) http://k3rnel.net/after_image/index.txt

If anyone wants to try the game... http://k3rnel.net/after_image/index.html

Thanks Malachite. Found it

Thanks Malachite. Found it and found the king, but apparently one hit turns the screen black. Did I do something wrong? :-/

Hey there,

I tried to review & play the version you uploaded at http://opengameart.org/content/afterimage

However I think that the Afterimage.htm wasn't included. (There is an "Afterimage.lnk" but I can't open that in Linux)

I also downloaded the one labeled 1.1 and it seems to have the same issue. Am I missing something?

As a comment, I began writing

As a comment, I began writing reviews of the LPC Games. You can read the first 9 here:

http://k3rnel.net/category/game-review/

More will be posted through out the next week.

I really need Linux binaries functional to speed up the game reviews though, It's the reason I started writing only html5 reviews, but will start reviewing the rest on Monday.

I'm looking forward to trying

I'm looking forward to trying out your game! I'm currently reviewing all the LPC entries, but after I'm done, I'll definitely make a blogpost about this non-entry (Due to time constraints).

Any screenshots you might want to share about your game? Screenshots get people excited. :-)

I have another suggestion. My screen is 768 pixels in height. I can't see the building buttons without blocking the income bar. I can't see the income without blocking the building buttons. See where I'm getting to? :P

Another is that I can't seem to understand why people leave because of "high crime" on the second day.

Finally, a suggestion .If you've assigned villagers to a task, at the end of the day, pre-set them to that task and only allow the new ones to be unassigned. If people left, remove them from the ones with the highest amount of workers. If there's a tie for highest amount, flip a coin or whatever.

Finally, a tutorial would be welcome :-)
