Which mountains exactly? The set of mountains adapted from The Mana World by Saphy and Len Pabin (see attachment) are under the GPL v2 license. The others should all be available under CC-BY-SA 4.0. I really need to officially post these with attribution... I'll try to do that this week.
I would be interested! You can see my LPC extensions on my profile (including the original horse :p)
I also have some stuff "in the wings" in my WIP thread here that I've been too lazy to finish and release: https://opengameart.org/comment/67276 . If it's something I've started working on (bird sprites, mountain terrain, interior furniture, medieval or victorian town decorations, steampunk pipes), I could probably be convinced to finish it for free.
Thanks! I don't have any immediate plans to do clock animations --- would love if you wanted to! I am trying to get around to releasing the roofs and non-building props features in the screenshots though... soon-ish...
This is amazing! I love it! I'm glad you made modular variations on the mane and tail colors, and I also like the face variations a lot.
As far as the animation, your walk looks much smoother---particularly the front legs. I really like what you did with the mane and tail as well---they look a lot better with a bit of motion.
Personally, I think you were a bit too aggressive with the hind legs; I know the front hind leg looks like it bends backwards too much, but a horse's hind leg actually does that! At rest, the humerus point slightly anteriorly , while the olecranon process of the horse's ulna protrodes posteriorly, as in this image. This makes the leg look bent at the knee/elbow If you look at an animation of the walk cycle, you can see the the hind leg is always slightly bent. In your animation, I see you left the background hind leg bent, which looks strange to me because it moves totally differently from the re-animated foreground hind leg.
One thing we could both improve is adding a bit of motion to the rest of the body (especially the rump)---look at the latter part of the video I linked above, and it seems the rump bounces up and down a bit. Likewise, we could probably make the shoulder move a little bit with the legs. It's tough with only 4 frames...
Cool! Yes, there's some more information on her blog here: http://www.thelastscore.com . I think it was meant to be a standalone app as well that could generate spritesheets. Either way, more choices is not a bad thing.
Not sure I quite understand, but sounds cool, and the results look great! I thought for a while about how to do this in general when I was first making the horse; the best idea I came up with was this:
North/South: split horse into "front" and "back" sprites; draw "front horse" then character then "back horse" on top
East/West: draw horse; draw character; draw an overlay containing enough of horse's body to cover character's back leg, but with a cutout for character's front leg. Would have to be adapted somewhat to different shoes/boots.
Your solution seems to allow for the legs to be sorta splayed out in the north-facing direction, and looks much better!
Please upload any modifications/additions to OpenGameArt in addition to making changes to your forks of the editor or universal spritesheet repositories! We've tried a few times to come up with a more "definitive" or "curated" version of the LPC assets (see e.g. here: https://opengameart.org/forumtopic/suggestion-github-organization-lpc-te... ) but what we've found is that OGA is the most reliable and discoverable resource in the long-term. Also post early and often---even if something isn't quite done! Otherwise it's too easy for things to get lost/forgotten about (I have this problem all the time where I'll lose interest in pixel art for a few months, and my projects lie stagnant on my hard drive...)
FWIW, the most comprehensive collection of LPC assets is here: https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-collection . elmerenges, AntumDeluge and I try to add stuff there as it's posted, but let me know if there's something you think should be added.

Yeah, the head could use some work... it's too small and kind of the wrong angle/shape. Excited to see what you come up with!

Did you find anything that was missing from the collection? https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-collection If so, could you please let me know so I can add it?

Very cool to see some action on this again! Two suggestions:

Awesome! I hope you'll consider adapting it to the original horses as well: https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-horses
The carpet is probably from here: https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-interior-castle-tiles
