Hello all,

I'm making a SHMUP, lurkers know this as it's years in the making. Still having a hard time coming up with terrain that meets my minimum quality requirements, but everything else is in place.

If you can make terrain that looks fairly realistic in long sections for a few five-minute levels, I'm willing to pay on a per-asset basis or hourly contract with a percentage of profits, all open to negotiation. If you have level design experience, even better.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the tools we use to communicate with one another, and something really struck me as problem with our current situation. I believe what the freedom respecting software games community really needs is a discourse forum. I know we have other forums and places to discuss free software games need their own specialized community, because existing communities aren't really cutting it.

We are a small team of students with different backgrounds but a common passion about the RPG genre. Our dream is to complete a small RPG called "Farundil" which reflects some of the classic aspects of the legendary open World games like the Gothic series. I really have to emphasize it is only a small slice of the original source of inspiration which we try to interpret.
We are working on this project in our spare time and since we can show some content I'd be happy to hear what you think about such a project and also what you think about our artstyle! Please be critical :)

Hello! My name is Ilia Volkov, I compose music for everyday usage: video games, animations and so on. I like impressive video games, colourful cartoons and animation - in short words all that gives people joy. Quantity of my finished projects is approaching 150. Show off your project!

Hi guys,

I just posted for the first time about my game on Reddit. The main feedback seems to be that the art style isn't unified... Which, doesn't entirely surprise me.

The only problem is I'm blind to it now.

They mention that some graphics are detailed paintings, others vectors, pixel art or 3D renders. (I'll admit, I knew the pixel art would be an issue)

VST that sounds like the drums in Mining Melancholy (DKC2)

Does anyone know where I can get a sound like the clanging percussion here?

The closest I've been able to find is Ironhead 1.5 by Ugo. It's pretty great but there's a good bit of processing on the samples themselves, so I was hoping I could find something a little more flexible.

Alternatively, if anyone knows the names of real-world instruments that sound similar, I could look around on my own.

I'm dropping this here for now, since it's not finished, but I went out of steam for my last pixel phase.
That means, I'll probably take it up again on my next one.
It could basically be used like this, my remixes are all licensed cc by-sa 3.0, but definitely needs some further polishment.

LPC walk cycle with varying speed

Hello LPC fans,

Using the LPC Spritesheets, one faces often the problem that there is no run-cylce.

I found out today, that one can use the 8-frame walk cycle, and create a 6-frame (124578) and 4-frame (1357) variant, which have different feels to it.

- 8-frames: roaming/relaxed
- 6-frames: purposeful
- 4-frames: hasted

Hope somebody finds this helpful.
