Re: Tempest in the Aether art wishlist
Saturday, April 30, 2011 - 01:43

tempestintheaether.com no longer works, they bought tempestintheaether.org.

So the site does work again, but on a different domain

Two very important questions:

1. Where did you get the textures?

2. Could you please include the polygon count?

Edit: 1 thing: if you want to create a real graveyard ambiance, it might be better to do it slightly asymmertrical.

Re: Tools

As long as it's compatible.. So no sketchup.

I'd say:

3d: Blender 2.56

2d: Gimp and inkscape, photoshop if necessary

Sound: Whatever the artists preferes, artists create their own work anyway..

300 MB is no problem, as long as we don't include our dependencies as well. We don't have time to make changes to things like SDL anyway..

Someone should start setting up a location to work from, an svn repositiory for example, and start giving people rights.. We should have a fluid coorporation system by the time the challenge starts.

I'm not a moderator, but please discuss libraries etc. in the topic about libraries and genres.

I killed him after 1 lvl up :). He doesn't have any ranged attacks, so I just shot him with my slingshot. Lots of times of course, but you can run, run around a pillar and run the other way.

I think you need an apple developer license for those plathforms. I doubt anyone is willing to pay a hundred dollars for just compiling to those plathforms..

theme != genre. Of course if it's something like 'space', it will make more sense to do 3d or arcade, but if it's medieval we could create basically everything.

We can actually make a shortlist, so we don't waste more time choosing then necessary.

For newbies, or people with no sense of reality: MMORPG will not be an option :)

Art:

1. Sketches

2. Placeholder art

3. final art version

4. Additional art (menus, texts, etc.)

24-44 could differ, varying on the type of game. For example: if you create an rpg, this may be the phase where you create lots of content. Or add things like random levels..
