I've been working on a new version of the village map. I hope this will become the final one. I've been experimenting a bit with the tile raster and map sizes, and I think I now have a raster and map size which I can keep.
I felt Java already a big advancement in developing times compared to C++ which I had been using before. Well, Java Applets are mostly dead now, while Flash is supported on many systems. I guess you made a good choice there :)
It should be fairly easy to adjust the white level without damaging the quality too much. But you are right it often happens that my works turn out too dark.
It's now in the new release, so you can take a look in real. It's a real bouncy release, you'll know why I say that, if you run it and watch the imps :)
- Story based (the player will discover the story while they play)
- Puzzle/Quest based
- Item based (optimizing equipment is more important than the actual game)
And the everlasting question:
- Single PC or party?
And don't forget, skills. In IVAN you can get fighting levels in whatever you can hold in the hand. Someone actually gained levels in fighting with a banana, because they forgot to change the banana back to their real weapon.
That's a very fine addition :) Good work!
I'm quite rusty with sound programming, but my new project should have some places where this fits quite well :)
Some very nice door references in there. And most seem to be usable with a bit of work. Thanks for sharing this nice collection!

Busy tombs! But I like it very much :)

- There is a new map area, west of the village (follow the path down-right)
- New, smoother movement
- Sound playing code
- Simple sound effects included for the inventory
- Start scripts for Windows and Linux
The world needs a good carmageddon remake! With deformable cars and all the related effects.
You can develop an RPG several ways ...
- Story based (the player will discover the story while they play)
- Puzzle/Quest based
- Item based (optimizing equipment is more important than the actual game)
And the everlasting question:
- Single PC or party?

Good luck :)
