These are some fair points, and your text looks a lot better than mine, I will fully admit that working with text is very much my weak side. Here is a version without the text and the repeating background. I think it would look better if we pasted your text on top pf that ^^
I fiddled a little bit with the SMS palette, but I wouldn't say it works very well for this drawing, it was a good idea though.
To be honest, I'm not sure about how this armour thing is supposed to work.
