That is true to a degree. Portraying a lot of detail in a very small space can be a challenge, but in general I would consider the increased labour of needing to fill four times the pixels to greatly outweigh this.

Nope. Tiles is easy. Eight direction characters is laborious.
ASE uses Allegro 4, not 5. Allegro 5 is a complete redesign and not compatible with 4.
In Ubuntu 10.10 there is a package named kde-config-tablet which has pad mapping options. I imagine there should be similar in Fedora.
Maybe "exclusive" isn't the best way to describe open art? :P
