Most jams have rules, I think
Friday, June 8, 2018 - 07:59

Most jams have rules, I think the rules are fine and not 'ass complicated'. There there for a reason.

make a game,

use mimuim of 6 assets from OGA.

have a credits page.

no offensive content.

have fun.

submit game.

not hard at all.

Very cool!, baddies, player,

Very cool!, baddies, player, landscape and a story! Put a Couple of variations in the landscape and you have yourself all the assets you need to make a complete game!, and one that resembles a Sega master system. :)

This is great work! :)

Good choice on the art

Good choice on the art challenge, and the notices looks good too. And thank you for linking the jam. :)

yeah, they were a bit shy,

yeah, they were a bit shy, ive made them bold and mentioned they are links now. :)

@withthelove, there is a link
Wednesday, June 6, 2018 - 08:23

@withthelove, there is a link to all the recent 'art challenges', and a link to a collection folder with all the assets created for them. :) unless there are other art challenges I've missed?

@medicinestorm that's them, :)

@withthelove glad you approve

@withthelove glad you approve of the white on purple. i appreciate that pre making assets could be cheating, but its not really, as most will maybe use pre-existing assets anyway that are already here, i would hope anyway. and if some choose to create and they release here then that can only be a good thing for OGA and its users. Youre right aswell, doing edits and modifications of other assets will most likely be needed to have the assets 'suit' well together, so having that time to do it could be essential. plus if it creates additions to an already existing asset, such as animation cycles, or new environments then that will be an added benefit to the original asset and its potential future users. I do think this will work out well, but the prove is in the pudding, so if it doesn't go as well as we liked, we can have a rethink and consider changing the set up of the jam for next year based on this years jam feedback.

I wont miss the 'chat with us' link, i dont actually use it, wouldn't it be better if OGA had a discord now? :)

yes, of coarse, the idea is

yes, of coarse, the idea is to use all the assets available on OGA, which have been created for years, so you can prepare or even created assets for the jam if you want, the jam will run annually, so you could create stuff for next years jam if you want, as long as it is actually available on OGA. so if its on OGA, its good to go!

note though: should anyone create assets that are for the jam exclusively for your game, then you should upload the ones you want to release BEFORE the game jam ends, for it to be counted as part of the 6 asset rule, and that they are available for the rest of the community. Games that do not feature any assets from OGA will be removed, or disqualified or not counted. but im sure i didnt need to say that. :)

how about 'Hobbies' a side
Tuesday, June 5, 2018 - 09:17

how about 'Hobbies' a side from drawing or game dev as a hobbie, what other things do you like to do?

Fishing? create some fishing assets

jigsaws? create so jigsaw inspired tiles

cookin? create some things associated with cooking

disc jockey? create some music related stuff

im sure there are many different hobbies out there that you lot get up too when you have spare time. :)

I think it works better,
Tuesday, June 5, 2018 - 08:57

I think it works better, having the dark background takes away the focus from the banner, and leaves the text stuff an eyesore, but il happily change it if its what you guys would rather.

Im up for a art challenge, theres still 4 weeks before the jam starts, il leave it up to you. :)

Thanks for that @withthelove,
