Laurelia's Polymorphable Citizens
Description and Notes:
**Updated entry 7/30/2012 with corrected attribution in AUTHORS.txt**
Our game is a simple action-RPG taking inspiration from early 90's RPGs, and based upon the FLARE engine, flarerpg.org. The game follows Daphne, one of the many citizens Laurelia, as she embarks on what should be a simple quest to fetch a flower from the woods for her sixteenth birthday. On the way, she falls into a cavern and awakens an ancient evil, Zalkaz. The village Elder tasks her with finding the two halves of the Juggernaut talisman so that she will have the power to defeat Zalkaz. Along the way, you will find other talismans as well, which will enable you to transform into a bat, snake, ghost, and the powerful Juggernaut with her Holy Strike ability.
Conceived of by Pennomi (Thane Brimhall) and Makrohn (Matthew Krohn), this game has a very active future ahead of it. Though completed and polished for the LPC, plans have already been made for more content, including side dungeons and an extension of the storyline. Maps are crafted within tiled, helping for generation and modification of multi-room dungeons. Two members of the FLARE community have already contributed to the source code of Polymorphable, Dorkster (Justin Jacobs) and Igorko (Igor Poliychuk). We push back and forth with the main engine, though maintaining our own style and plot. As both engines evolve, we will be able to add more features and inspire the trunk as well.
