Hey everyone! I made this boss for a challenge over at Pixeljoint, in the same style as the rest of my rpg enemy set. He has three forms, starting off as a robed and masked creature presenting a vaguely humanoid front, and ending up being revealed as a decidedly non-human critter. Having multiple arms with weapons is a bit of a trope/cop-out, but I didn't have any other ideas.
Note that my normal policy is not to do boss art for this set, for a few reasons. First, most people are going to be more concerned about having major characters like bosses be unique than normal random encounters. Second, they're a lot of work for something that will be less useful anyway. But I figured I'd post this anyway, since it turned out pretty well and has no other destiny atm.
Credit to my hella bro for the name. He always delivers.

Thanks Red. As always, top tier work. =3
These are great! I really love how the style of this graphic and the others in your series are consistent.
Thanks for another great contribution!
This shall definitely be one key minion, if you allow me to. :)
Thanks guys!
@Bertram: by all means, please do.
@leeor_net: I appreciate that. I've been working on this set for 2 and a half years off and on, and it's finally approaching minimal completion for full game usage (though of course I want to expand beyond that, too).
@Vestrel: Thanks! I saw that it was in your game collection, and I'm honestly very interested in seeing what you end up doing with it.
I was going to stop writing new monsters but I see that you want to know my plans for this so I shall write the Harlequin boss in all its glory. I'll post up a link to a video here once I got it done within this week =)
That sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Hey guys,
I finished writing up Harlequin - The Cursed Magician. I really had a lot of fun with it too. I hope that I did him justice. I gave it my all =) He is the true first boss of HoaLW. (Grue is still in progress)
Please put your head phones on and turn the volume up. Headphones are a must to get the full effect! Without further ado, please enjoy the Harlequin - First Encounter.

Many thanks again to RedShrike for the challenge and for being such a boss and MatthewPablo for his insanely epic music XD
P.S.
My imagination ran out before I could write up Harlequin in his final form. However, I will come back to him once I get new ideas =)
Thank you for linking me. I really like how you implemented it--the style of animation really works with the overall aesthetic. I am really looking forward to this game.
Thx for sharing ;D
Best Art.
Incredible! But kind of creepy.
Hey, Redshrike! I've made Harlequin Epicycle into a boss for my online world building game, BoundWorlds. He's perfect for testing and demonstrating new world building features, especially those related to special effects. Here's a video of the battle as it is now, featuring all 3 forms:

I should really thank you specifically - since BoundWorlds is built entirely on free assets, your work is showing up a lot! You'll probably be in everyone's world credit screen for one thing or another, haha.
Fantastic!
Looks interesting using GameBoy original color palette (4-color green!)
