This is the first installment of a set of magic icons.
The second installment is here.
The third installment is here.
The fourth installment is here.
Each spell comes in three power levels. Additionally most spells have several (up to nine) color variations. The colors were chosen for their distinctness, and to support and wide range of possible classes of magic and or damage types. For instance the red version of the "enchant weapon" spell could be used to add fire damage to weapons. Game designers can figure out how to best apply these art assets to their system.
- Enchant Weapon: 9 colors
- Protect: 9 colors
- Evil Eye: 2 colors
- Fireball: 4 colors
- Heal: 3 colors
All icons are 256x256, but have been designed to be easily recognizable down to 32x32.
Look for more in January...

Nicely done! I might use these as an optional icon set for OSARE.
Gorgeous!
Beautiful!
Truly awesome! I'm looking forward for the next sets, very very useful.
Very nice, great work!
Thanks guys :)
Amazing work, i love it! i'll use for the preview of my gui =)
This is the first of three (approximately equal installments) Some of the additional icons are determined, but i'm open to hearing what else potential users would want to see. No guarantees that any of the suggestions will be used.
(Anonymous above, was me, accidentally not logged in)
There's a shield, a sword, and some other things, but it seems to me a bow icon would fit well and could also be useful.
That's awesome. What software did you use?
Photoshop and the all important Wacom tablet.
Of course these can be used differently, but my intention was that the sword icon serve as a general attack buff spell, and the shield series is supposed to be general defensive buffs. That's why the sword/shield are simply silhouettes.
If you want weapon icons in a somewhat similar style (though only 64x64) check out Wesnoth.
I too would like to see something with a bow or an arrow, for "ranged attack buffs" or so. You might also add stuff with animals, though that's maybe too specific.
Fangs and/or claws could probably be useful on the animal side. Animals might be too specific, but maybe a generic "shapeshift" icon?
INCREDIAWESOME, congratz!
Cool Pictures!
Very professional looking with a good number of options. I will definitely be using some of these in my game! Thanks for some wonderful assets.
Can I use these skill icons on one of my forum post on another game? I have a concept and I'm not very good at art, of course all credit goes to you.
Anyone can use these icons as long as they go along with the terms of one of the licences listed above.
Hello there !
I really would like to use your marvelous work (using CC BY 3.0 licence) for my platformer game Little Shadows

If you're interested, we could think about few new icons (basically I want to use them for magic spells).
Best regards,
Thomas
Hello, I used your skills in my mobile RPG, just released a beta to Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.KapasRobert.DungeonsOf...
Credited you. Thanks!
Awsome!!
These icons are SO nice, thank you for doing this!
I am using these in a Minecraft resource pack, for a server-side mod I develop called Magic. This allows players to cast spells using a GUI-based magic wand in Minecraft.
Here is what the spell menu looks like now:
I am in the process of switching my 8x8 icons for 32x32 versions of your painterly icons. I'm not sure there are enough icons to cover my 200+ spells, but it is a great start!
Attribution is here:

The Magic plugin itself is MIT-licensed but as we discussed via PM, I've added a separate note about the spell icons being CC3.
Thanks again!
EDIT: Oops, well someone has informed me that these icons are already used in another MC client mod. I've made this a separate optional RP for my plugin so as not to look samely. Oh well!
Nice work! I'm planning to use them as part of the cover for a book in the "LitRPG" style, set in and around a future game world.
The website in your attribution doesn't work for me - does the website address need to be updated before I can use these?
Found an app using these icons. Not sure if it's using them legally or not. I couldn't find attribution.

Hello, I used your assets in my game. You can play it here http://hellwalker-games.com/
I used one of the icons in a song I wrote on soundcloud. https://soundcloud.com/trevor-d-lentz/corruption check it out! :D
Hello there! I'm going to be using these images alongside MTG Cardsmith to create a series of nonprofit 'spell cards' to help myself and my play group remember the rules for Games Workshop's Age of Sigmar game - using them for both artifacts, command abilities, and - most importantly - spells. Hit me up if you want copies! superiorfanbase@gmail.com
What a great job.
What a huge amount
Absolutely amazing! These will work great to represent strength aptitudes as part of a classroom-based learner strengths trainer card I'm working on for students to help provide transparency to their strengths in a relevant way. Thank you.
I want to use this in making my card games cards look better.
I suck at art and have seen these icons in use with a mod for minecraft(may want to check there mod page on cruseforge.com as there is no copy right info provided there)
Thanks so much for this great work buddy ! I've been looking a long time for this kind of artwork to help me design prototypes for card and board games. Your set is very complete and truly awesome !!!
