(WIP) ZRPG tiles | OGA remixed (Jetrel & DB32 colors)
I haven't been on this site for a couple years- or even a computer actually. I got caught up with some life changing distractions.
For the past month or so I've been tinkering around (on the little spare time that I have) on some pixel art and when I get tired of that I may poke at my Dusk demo game.
I'm starting my first topic here to show my work in progress of re-colorizing/remixing my favorite JRPG tilesets (32x32) with DawnDringer's 32 color palette in an effort to make all the best art here on OGA more cohesive.
There may be some art yet to be submitted to the mainline but I assure you that I'll be making all this art available when I feel I'm finished with it ;)
Here's a screenshot made with Tiled testing some of what I've been working on.
The big trees are Jetre'ls tree's located here , take a look at that - it's what inspired me to expand into usable rpg tiles. I've contacted Jetrel and he knows about my derivative works and likes what I'm doing. When I'm finished I'll be making a ton of excellent art available under the public domain (CCO), thanks to Jetrel and Hyptosis.
I'm also working on Leonard Pabin's stuff that he made for Wispers of Avalon. CC.BY/GPL
When I expand that screenshot testing more stuff I'll be sure to post a revised image here for everybody to enjoy some eye candy :)
Feedback/criticism is always appreciated.

Hi there, I got a little update! :)
My bad I haven't posted on this WIP in a long time. I haven't found much time lately for this hobby.
What have I finished? Probably nothing. LOL! It's hard to say something is finished when you keep adding polish. Last winter I finally got around to re-working all the grass and gravel transition tiles. I'm pretty happy with how it looks now. I also "finished" my pine trees to better match Jetrel's trees. I'll message him and see what he thinks. May need more polish. I also redone my manzanita trees.
Luckily this update survived my RV springing a leak and flooding my laptop. So I'm dumping the 3 tilesets here for now. I'll update the submission later.
To Do list:
1. The mountains and creek bank need improvements.
2. I have a bunch of OPP assets scattered around the example map that need converting to match style.
3. Waterfall animation.

Hey there! I have an update!! Improved upon cliffs/mountain tiles and how the creek bank transitions into animated waters. Which led me to mapping up a few waterfall animations. I was AMAZED!!! at how good it looked! I made these waters like a decade ago and to finally see this made me happy!! Sorry I'm busy IRL.
I also improved upon my beach waves animation to incorporate a technique I seen on Horizon's Gate. So that animation looks WAY better.
You can check out all the animations in action if you have Tiled map editor. Here's the link to the .tmx and tilesets. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/lm0lp7gvqpd5e1y0zwo17/h?dl=0&rlkey=nisjav...
Edit: I'm not sure if that image is showing up. My internet is horrible. Edit 2: I figuredit out :) Take a look at the side facing waterfall.

Image not showing, try to downsize it.
It is still not showing for me either. I think dropbox is showing it for you because you are logged into your dropbox account. Not so for others. Trying to load the image or open it by itself gives a "Error (401) It seems you don't belong here!" message. 401 error = no valid credentials.--Medicine Storm
Thanks for letting me know the image wasn't loading. I tried to reference back to dropbox for the image to load and like MedicineStorm said it worked for me but no-one else. So I added it as a attachment and used that URL to get it to load big in the post.
So here's an image of the beach waves animation to give idea how it looks now. The cornors need tiling work.

I've always thought this project was one of the best things on the site. Glad to see an update!
Hey there, thanks for the nice comments!
I've done alot of small improvments everywhere. Here's some of it... I polished up alot of "noise" or stray pixel reminents in the water animations. I redone the rocks/cliffs transition into ocean, redone some OPP assets, added OPP animals/sprites to liven things up, and made a animation of Hyptosis tall grass. I finished mapping some areas. Started working on the castle again. I'm using Hyptosis' pixel sharp dungeon wall tiles for the castle walls. 48 x 48 Pixel Sharp Dungeon Tiles | OpenGameArt.org I finally noticed Death's Darling had released some waterfalls few months ago so I had to test them out and mapped up a little demo. [LPC Revised] 4-Season Terrain | OpenGameArt.org So there's 9 water animations in there. Check it out in Tiled. I updated my dropbox. Dropbox - ZJRPG - Simplify your life Ok here's a wall of demo's.
