It's useful indeed, however I'd still need to create the "sub-collections" I'd want to use as folders, and those would still be listed in the collection list, making it really noisy over time, especially if I want to organize multiple projects.
Well I guess I'll stick with manual sorting for the time being.
Here are some creatures remixed from Redshrike's SciFi spritesheet. Adapted to the NES color palette. I tried to limit myself to 3 or 4 colors for each sprite in respect of the 8-bit constraints. Enjoy!
