Just by seeing the sprite I got a Mother 3 music in head and wanted to drop one of thoses psychedelic backgrounds behind it. Won't you care if I'll use it for an eventual related project? That'll stay quite hypothetical as I'm reworking the battle engine from scratch (again) but I like your art style.
It's been a while I haven't been inspired by a tileset. There are some quirks to correct (one can't use 1-pixel wide rivers or transition for instance without making two transitions overlay) but I really like the design itself!
The only way I could do is fetching bigger sprites. I'm quite new to Unity and I'm still searching ways to improve my skills by doing projects. I could reduce scaling by using different blocks size given in this asset pack, here is the result : http://geekbros.tk/retro-actif/mini-projet-unity-maj-visuelle-kenney-et-...
(Nest time I'll give the project its own page, it'll be easier to keep track of it like this)
(Software talking, have you tried softwares like Grafx2 or Graphics Gale? In my tastes I love Grafx2 but Graphics Gale or Pro Motion look quite decent for pixel art.)

Hey! That's a pretty nice prototype. I like how that ends as a bullet storm! :p
I have a gameplay suggestion : could you add a mode for AZERTY keyboards please?

Thanks! I was using your platform pack for a physics game project and this will be very helpful to avoid stretched textures! ^^
You can get a try at the project here (French but you can just play), unity needed though : http://geekbros.tk/retro-actif/mini-projet-unity-balance-on-la-ameliore/
I like them, because it reminds of Green Hill Zone, but they give another feeling and they finally are quite nice!
@usr_share Taking notes here, nice use of outline.
Nice one!

Freaking good. Please go on and give us more of this work!
To be able to try tilemaps and maps ideas would be fun and very useful.
