Great tileset I needed it a little smaller. I started working on a beat-em up for the PocketArcade. With a 96x64 pixel screen, this was a little big so I scaled it down. My characters aren't sticking to the SMS color palette but tileset still does. https://www.hackster.io/dennis-payne/mutant-road-87d599
Lots of work has gone into the project. We have switched from ClanLib to SDL2 and some additional libraries. It should be relatively easy to compile on Linux. Fedora can use the cross-compiler to build a Windows version. A quick 2 player mode was thrown in but it still needs a lot of polish.
Assuming you are trying to merge images as mentioned in the subject, Linux has convert as part of ImageMagick. I recently used it to generate the sprite sheets for Troll Bridge that I posted here. I created a small script I can use to combines the images in the game into a file.
I haven't joined the jam yet either. I've been procrastinating on starting a new project. I did manage to do an update for Troll Bridge and added the artwork to this site. Enormous Mutant Badgers sounds like a win to me.
So I played around with pygame. To my knowledge "fullscreen" under SDL1 which is used by pygame is underwelming.
I tried out pygame_sdl2. It doesn't stretch the screen the way I want.
Python arcade library does what I want but while 1.3.7 works the latest 2.0.3 does not. The idea was to use one of these frameworks to speed up development. It doesn't seem to be helping. These screenshots are from example pygame programs. I would be doing something different but thought I'd start with a simple platformer base.
Nice work. I created a bunch of 64x64 creatures for Pixel Critters. I've been meaning to upload them here. I think these would work well with them.

Did you upload the wrong file to this one? This is the renegade not the vigilante. He has a white shirt not a bare chest.

@Spring: There are always problems. Don't let them get you down. I'm still hoping to get something available.

Looks good. I'd be interested to see a gameplay video. Are you planning on releasing a Linux version? (Even better if it is open source.)
Are you planning to release the code? Even imperfect animations that need a little cleanup would be great.
