Oh my god, what a throw back. It does truly bring back memories of Crystal Caves, Duke Nukem (before they turned him into an egomaniac), Bio Menace, and other great games of that time.
To me it does look good -- great even. But if you'd like to improve it here are some ideas:
For a more 3-d ish feel, you could try adding shading from where you think the light is going to shine on it (lighting the areas where the ambient light will reflect a little off of it and darkening the areas where it will not.) Just don't add too much brightness to it because you don't want it to detract from the look/feel.
As far as textures, if the submersable is abandoned you could add some dust to it; maybe a cobweb in one of the corners or a slight crack in the monitor itself. Other than that, due to the nature of monitors being smooth, I think it looks fine texture wise.
@MedicineStorm: I'm an idiot a great learner! Thanks! <3
@withthelove I know, right? I mean, I can understand the whole ordeal of just making everyone right handed because a) as you pointed out, it takes extra coding/modeling/animating and the pros don't really have time to bother with it, and b) most of the world is right handed, so it makes a lot of sense to go with the status quo.
There is the argument that you can simply flip the view model but that looks a little awkward because the hands and animations look messed up, you know?
But I really do think that it's time to give some love to the South Paw people. It would be awesome to see and maybe it will get the pros thinking about it.
Oh, that's another way we could name this contest: "South Paw Pride."
Great! Who will be running the art page once the control is transfered?

This is a beautiful peace for relaxing in general. You deserve to be mentioned in the credits at the very least. <3

I found an excellent tutorial about shading here, if you'd like a look. https://www.dummies.com/art-center/performing-arts/drawing/drawing-light...

I hope this helps you a little.

Ah cool... oh... did you ever figure out who runs the official OGA Deviant art page?
