@capbros: It specifically said 'Pay not attention to this'!

J/K. I'm listening to the concerns about announcement visibility, and I think this feature might help. :) (see attached image)

I can also sticky a forum topic as suggested above. Just let me know which topic is to be the official game jam/art challenge thread and tell me when it's ready.

Re: "policy changes", I assume this is a reference to GDPR? No OGA policies have changed recently.

Personally, I think however people want to make the game is fine. I made my entry from scratch, but others used RPGMaker and other tools. I was fine with that, but I think the RPGMaker entries received a lower score than they could have gotten just because we've all seen it before. It's harder to make a game that stands out as unique the more you rely on tools that narrow the scope like that. I think that's fine, too. Tools like that have the advantage of saving a lot of effort, but they also come with drawbacks, and participants have to accept those when choosing their tools.

I really liked last year's requiring the inclusion of some existing OGA assets. I think it promotes the spirit of what this community stands for without hindering the creativity of the game jam participants. After all, if you don't find any assets on OGA that you could use in your game, you're still allowed to make your own assets, share them to OGA, and then use them in your game as an 'existing OGA asset'. It still encourages the sharing of assets. :)

I like the idea of a more open theme for the art challenge assets bonus. Either "bonus points for using assets from any of the narrow-themed art challenges" or "bonus points for using assets from one open-themed art challenge" as capbros suggests... (or both?).

Just one opinion, though. I can see how such an open-ended game jam may lack focus.

P.S. Looking into reviving the OGA social media accounts to help promote this sort of thing. (twitter, facebook, deviantart, etc.) No promises, though. :/

Is there some reason you were not able to edit the first submission instead of reuploading it?

Considering mollom is out of service, i'm guessing the updated policy would be something like:

"We don't share information. We don't collect information. We don't exist."

However, that is mollom's policy, not OGA's. If OGA has a publicly facing privacy policy, I don't know where it is. I'm not the controller. I'll work on making it visible, but in the meantime, to the best of my knowledge, this policy is accurate. We don't advertise or have any customer "orders", but our users sometimes do, so that terminology is left in. Again, this is a work in progress by someone who is not a data controller, so bear with me. :)

So did Aimee release these CC

We definitely need more voiced effects. Thanks for commissioning these. They're great!

Sorry, Danimal. My nuking of spammers has no mercy for comment context. Same for Dannorder. :P

Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - 08:09

Cool! I've seen a need for new windows that are RPGMaker compatible, but this is the first that are everything-else compatible, too. Thanks for making them from scratch. Just FYI, one of the terms you have may not be enforceable under CC-BY:

"If you make edits you would like to share, whether they're frankensprited or just colorized/adjusted, please do not charge for them and please credit us as the original artists."

Emphasis mine. Obviously, people must credit you under CC-BY, but the license allows other people to charge money for them. I don't know why someone would pay for them considering they're available here for free, but the license still allows it. Are you ok with that?

I guess I should have been more specific: do you have a link to a page that shows you're allowed to release derivatives under CC0?

Oh, cool. I see it now.
