I do remember Alex Kidd (I think it's actually spelled with two d's) but I didn't really find the games that good, the shop mechanicsa in alex kidd are absolutely fine though, it's mainly the frustating rock-paper-scissors matches with the bosses, and the fact that your attack is so short ranged which makes them mediocre imo. Oh yeah and the music isn't too good either, of course maybe I can fix that ;)
If we should collaborate about this, I think using something like Discord, Skype, etc. would be better for the flow, messaging is a bit slow here :)
What are you supposed to do with the stone and copper?
Also, I am actually making a game with Testsubject too. I'm not sure what my role exactly should be in your game but I should have the time for it also, I hope. ^^
So, what do you actually need me to do for this game?
I don't really know. It may be selfish, but if we're going to make a game for little kids, I at least won't care about it much, as I'm not a kid and I have no kids either. I was hoping we could strike a more general appeal that both kids or adults may possibly enjoy as long as they're fans of the genre.
Oooohh, that seems rather punishing, but then again, that's how these kinds of games usually go ^^
I used to play some EGA roguelike a while back which looked a bit like this one, but I can't remember its name. I've never played any of the Ultima games though, but I do know the later games in the series have some pretty amazing music ^^
Well , right now i was actually going to work with testsubject. We might be able to work in some of your ideas tho. But i don't think making a game just for 3-year olds is that viable though.
It should be noted that, before you dive, head-first into any sort of project with me, my games are almost never finished. I lose interest in stuff extremely quickly and can hardly be called reliable. I just mainly make stuff for fun, but it seems like you do the same, so it could still be a good time even if no real result comes from it ^^
Attempting to make a few character designs, if we literally were to call them "Spring" and "Ninja Dog" XD
Pixel art versions will be coming, if you like these designs ^^
Maybe some sort of mechanic where you can charge up a very powerful punch by spinning your fists around?
I think we should have boss fights where the bosses use actual attacks. There doesn't need to be that many bosses.
Let me know when you get your discord set up; my discord tag is Spring#6354
Do you have any ideas in mind for the main character? What animations should he/she have? I can start drawing tomorrow.

Yeah I like the pixel art style myself too ^^

Instantly reminds me of Megaman X like you say, but with robotic furries! Quite cool!
Amazing pixel art style you've got too!
