Currently the game isn't
Monday, November 11, 2019 - 17:27

Currently the game isn't posted anywhere. I have no actual gameplay made. I'm making my own "engine" with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Currently I have walking, loading maps, tile animations, menus, keybindings, music and sound effects, and dialogue boxes implemented. So it's close to being good enough to start making actual gameplay. It's about 1000 lines of code. If I did fully finish a game with it, I'd probably attempt to sell it. If I give up or see it's not profitable, it would get licensed as MIT.

I'm aware of Tuxemon, but due to Tuxemon art using CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, etc, and all CC licenses except CC0 forbidding "DRM" such as Steam, I won't be using any assets from Tuxemon. Even if my game becomes open sourced, I'd like to still have the rights to distribute it on stores for free even if those stores count as DRM. But my hope is that I can actually get paid for creating things.

Realistically, it's not very practical to be used in a game as it lacks animations, but the art style has such a fun cute vibe. I could see a lot of the art you post being used in merchandise. Like as an eraser, on a folder, notebooks, etc. If openclipart.org still existed, your art would have probably received more attention on there as well.

Overall looks great!

It really reminds me of the music in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Amazing music!

Would you consider dual licensing your music under the OGA-BY 3.0 license as well? CC-BY and CC-BY-SA have an anti-DRM clause. That immediately prevents a game using the work from being on the iOS store, Steam, and anything else considered DRM even if the game is being distributed for free. If you don't want to, I understand. You have great music I'd like to use, but I'm not going to use music with a clause like that. Even an open source game, such as Super Tux Kart, couldn't use it because they have their game for free on Steam.

You did a great job on this!

You did a great job on this! Very good usage of my (and others) bird sounds! It's basically a drag a drop loop for any game. Little to no editing would be needed unlike the raw bird sound audio I posted.

As others sort of mentioned, I would say the best way is to find an artist who has the style you like and look at their other work. I understand what you mean though. When I was creating a bunch of pixel art assets for one giant submission, I kept pushing myself to add as many useful things as I could. I wanted my submission to have enough art to get a person started on a game without having to look for more art assets. Some other people post art packs like that as well.

I don't know how to describe it, but the design makes it hard to focus. I think it would look good with a menu/title that is easier to distinguish from the art content (different background colors or something) and one side bar that can kind of condense the important parts from the current two sidebar design. I like the banner idea that chasersgaming mentioned for the art categories where the user can scroll left and right. If there would be animated previews, please only allow it when hovering over it.

Thanks for taking the time to make a preview and letting us give feedback!

Thanks for sharing that AntumDeluge! I never would have guessed they would be used for a fruit hat. xD I like it.

"Early 90s movie" has some major DBZ vibes. This is awesome! The aerobics one is great as well! These could be useful for things like videos where you need a specific type of song to match a feeling. For example I needed detective type music for a video and although the selection on here was small, I found exactly what I needed.

If it isn't too much trouble, it would be nice to offer ogg/wav/flac format. If a program can't use mp3, I'm forced me to convert it which means further compression loss to the audio.

Thanks for sharing these!
