I noticed no one posted this, but what about the basics... namely the following...

 

  1. Bitmap Fonts, and/or Truetype Fonts - I figure this is a must have since it is common to be able to at least be able to communicate some sort of storyline. However, I do believe that the fonts at the Open Font Library are compatible with this project ( See the Open Font Library website at: http://openfontlibrary.org/ )
  2. Basic user interface elements - This is key to help create various elements of the game interface. This can be used for the status screens, and other parts of the game. I figure a style similar to what you see on many Role-playing games on the super nes would be good. The key to this is tile-ability.
