Thanks for the fast response! I've never tried to do gems before, even rough opaque ones, and this was done mostly at some god forsaken hour.  Dithering is not required for the Mana World, I used it mostly to get some rough look at it shaded, before a more experienced artist could give me some feedback.  

You're definitely right about how to imply the edges, I'll take a crack at that now :).

Also, those gems you made are awesome!
