minimum 2 assets from at least 3 catergorys, So 2 from Music, 2 from Sound & 2 from 2D art, or you can have 2 from 3D Art, 2 from Textures, 2 from Concept and so on.
The Jam will be hosted on Itch.io, which will be a Ranked Jam, so all votes from the criteria will be calculated and totalled automatically.
Jam Duration: 4 Weeks.
I opted for the jam to go for 4 weeks, I want to give everyone an opportunity to participate, most are all busy with other projects so this should allow for those that would like to take part a chance to set some time aside, i also think this will give novice coders a chance to enter the jam as well. But just because it is 4 weeks doesn't mean you have to do it in 4 weeks, more veteran game jammers could challenge themself and do it in less time if they wish. :)
Voting Duration: 2 weeks or 4 weeks (UNDECIDED)
Only those that have submitted and taken part in the jam can vote on entrys, im not sure if it should be the same as the jam itself for the same reasons or just have it at 2 weeks. your thoughts would help.
Voting Criteria:
NARRATIVE/STORY:
PLAYABILITY:
MUSIC:
SOUND:
ARTWORK:
CHALLENGE THEME:(optional)
ART CHALLENGE:(optional)
OVERALL:
Theme:
I have no intention of running a theme for this jam, i feel it may restrict artwork chosen for it, however i have included CHALLENGE THEME as a category to vote on, So if you do choose to create a game based on the Art Challenge theme, you can get a vote for it, there is also the ART CHALLENGE, so if you don't want to use the challenge theme for your game, you can still use the artwork created from the art challenge theme and get a vote for that as well, those particular voting categories are optional, but getting votes for them will give you a better score at the end, so this should encourage you to use them. :)
Collaboration:
of coarse! team up, but it will be up to you to make your arrangments for that, just dont submit the same game twice.:)
Sourcecode:
this is optional, obviously sharing your code is encouraged. :)
The Rules:
1) Game must be made from the start of the jam.
2) You must use a minimum of 2 assets from at least 3 categories on OGA.
3) You must credit the Author of the asset's used, even if its not required by the license. you can do this by creating a 'Credits' Menu on your title screen where you can show a list.(if you have an account with OGA, downloads are saved to a folder where there is a handy 'Credits File' you can use)
- Derivative's: If the license permits you to create a derivative work of an asset, then you still need to credit the original author, and if you do, then please share it on OGA, it would be cool to see it!
4) Game must not promote any sort of discrimination, such as racism, sexism etc, or political agenda's.
5) Have fun!
Est Start date:
1st July.
Think thats it, all thats left to say is this may not appeal to everyone how i have done this, but it may help as a guidance for when another one is done in the future, not neccessarily by me, perhaps PreciousRoy when he returns, but I don't mind doing it.
it does seem it has gone quiet on this, so it does make me wonder whether there is enough interest. but i shall post my proposals of what am thinking of doing soon, I have reached out to PreciousRoy, but i have had no response so he must still be busy doing his masters.
if someone wants to do a banner, that would be great, i did do one, so if not il just use that.
very good!, thanks for your submission, reminds me of 'Soccer Physics', theres no need to post on a forum though, it comes up on the latest art thread, think this thread is for games. :)
I'm not sure how it will run at the moment, I am taking notes on what has been said so far. There's a bit to consider, so hopefully I can come up with something that will be ok for all that will take part. One thing I'm pretty sure I won't do is a "theme", I'm more for keeping it as open as possible so that all artwork on OGA is considered for a game. Il draft something up and post it soon, I still want to give preciousroy the opportunity to jump on this thread incase he has set one up and ready to go.
any suggestions anyone, then please post here for me to look at. :)
Perhaps we could "bump" the active forum topics so it stays at the top or at least seeable, but it does say at the very top of the site "latest blog post", maybe just make the font bigger? Your doing a great job Danorder, thank you.
have you heard anything more about a game jam? Is it something that we still want to do? I can't find the post about who was going to do it, il put something together if that went cold. :)
edit: sorry il move that question to another post.
thanks @ElizaWy for this, its great, i will use it now. :)
it is a weird size, thats what it says though. :)
