This thread has been an interested read, although I don't use The GPL license(glad I don't) I feel maybe I would like to add a comment.

the whole thing thing just seems 'Disasterous', and if something that can cause so many riffs begs the question  'why still use it at all?'

just ask yourselves for a minute, if GPL license did not exist, which license best covers your/the needs?

how many uploads in the last year or so have been uploaded using the GPL license? And how many have been downloaded? Is the GPL license putting people off downloading?

if such a license can cause issues with, developers, the uploading artist, OGA and whatever else isn't it best to just to nip it in the bud? Can't be anymore aurguments then?

dont get me wrong I'm not saying lose it, I'm saying if there's a real need for it then that's fair, but if there isn't as much call for it theses days then maybe think about suspending it, you can always ask the artist to do a personal preference format, or permission to do so.

just saying........apologies if my comments upset some.

Being a beginner myself, I just started with familiarising myself with the software functions first.

using basic square objects,, setting small tasks like make the object move left and right, etc, then jump, then just added smaller tasks like collisions and trying out new functions to get more confident.

once I was more confident I then took the time to think of a small game with with a very simple plot.

jump up 2 platforms, collect key, move to door, jump enemy object, open door.level end.

then depending on your abilities you can build on that, try your new ideas out.

try And plan a game with what your limitations are to begin with, if you go too big it can be the most frustrating thing when it doesn't go the way you want to or you feel it's taking to long.

take your time, be patient, start small and the big games will come eventually.

Ive been learning for 4 years now and I haven't released anything worthy.....yet :).

Goodluck!

@capbros I did think it would be kinda odd to be tinkering and not know about the forum posts without commenting on them, think his last post was March, so I was just a little concerned that he was actually OK.

im pleased to know he is.

@p0ss thanks for your work on the index.

im all up for having the search fixed, but pressing the BIG red button might not do it, and  just because we havn't heard from Bart doesn't mean that he hasn't been working on the site, and pressing this button could erase all of the work he may have been doing, id be very cautious about this.

I think the ones that are close to Bart himself should go and visit him and make sure he is allright.

I have one in my portfolio.

@capbros all taken in good spirit my friend, i see what your saying, and your right it's not great for anyone searching for artwork, and that's what this site is all about in essence, to be that resource.

sigh.

its a great platform, I guess we will just have to be a little more patient.im sure it will get sorted.

not sure here, maybe a confliction of license was found and it was removed, or the owner has changed the name? if you remember the artist try looking through his submitted art, or collection.

sorry cant be more help, if you have a copy of the license when you started using the art you may be ok, but not 100% sure, someone else may need to jump on this thred.
