Casual, time/resource management game where players take on the role of a parent or daycare provider. They are tasked with managing babies, starting from one and increasing in number as the game progresses. Tasks that will be performed include bath time, diaper changes, nap time and feeding. As time passes, more babies enter the mix and their needs can come and go more sporadically. Parents/daycare providers will have stress and exhaustion levels that all have to be maintained in order to keep playing. These would be managed by power naps/breaks, and booze! There would be no real progression system, but scores earned after a game completes would be converted into an in-game currency and this would be used to purchase aesthetic customization options and upgrades to improve baby-management-efficiency.
Attached is a basic mock up, but it really doesn't help illustrate gameplay much at all. Most or less just shows an idea of placement for the various baby tasks..
Any feedback would be great. If you have ideas or want to contribute, I'd be more than willing to consider anything.
EDIT:
Some things I'm already considering/have as ideas: - Age progression system/adding children into the mix. If it ends up being parents raising their own kids, I'd like to try an age progression system. Every new game would start with babies, but they would grow into toddlers, kids and teens as the player progresses. As a daycare sim, the player would just have to manage various age groups at once. - Some tasks can't be done simultaneously, or before another is done. Simultaneous example: Can't power nap and change a diaper at once, probably can't powernap and do most anything else anyway... Sequential tasks example: Have to change a diaper before bathing... You wouldn't want to throw a poopy-butt baby into a tub...
If you like this idea, let me know! If you think it'll tank, let me know! If you have any other fun ideas or want to contribute, let me know!
I'm mostly wanting to gauge interest in this before I get too invested in the design doc and spend hours planning something that no one would be interested in.
I must look like a dweeb or something .-. Must...find...forum...rules...and...explanation for this issue....
EDIT:
Welp.. Not sure what's not allowing me to post my concept description in the forums.. I just get this error:
Even trying to paste the error I'm getting into this is giving me the http 500 error... *dies*
EDIT 2:
Huzzah! I was able to post in my concept. I guess there's some issue with pasting in things, because I was pasted in my concept from the design doc and condensing it at first, then just pasting from my earlier attempts... idk, but I typed out my concept manually and it worked :)
I wish I knew what the character limit on these posts were. I must be hitting that or something, I can't edit in my original post. Going to break it up between 2 comments. Thanks for bearing with me! (This is my first time in the forums -_-)
I was thinking this set could use some underground room assets anyway. Some rocks, some flavor tiles like lil holes or puddles, etc. Cave-y stuff. Dungeon-y stuff. haha
Any chance there will be updates to this sheet? Such as some different grasses and maybe a dungeon set? Seeing as there are entrances to non-overworld areas, seems like we need some underground assets. I'd love to use your femalelinkjam assets.. I could see this developing into a neat gothic-horror adventure RPG kinda game..
Let this be the prime example of how I want all weapon packs to come... This and that one bad ass gun construction pack are my two favorite asset packs on the site so far.. Keep up the good work. Hopefully I'll finally finish a project, with this kind of awesome already tailored for me :D
