Nice concept, but somewhat strange.

Why hammer if he already has a sword? And the hammer is too small for a war. The character does some carpentry?

He looks somewhere above at the stars. Did he saw an airplane?

The free has strange postion, like it is broken.

Thanks for sharing your very helpful insights and opinions. Perhaps I can clarify why you are interpreting his arm as broken. It is draped across the lower end of his hammer and the wrist bends over it in space. Perhaps I could extend the handle further out so it reads clearer and isnt as confusing for you?

"Why hammer if he already has a sword?"

Hammers and swords are drastically different weapons for different circumstances.  A longsword is great for cutting flesh and has longer reach, but does very little against steel plates (unless you use the infamous "murder stroke" -- a historical technique in which the wielder turns the sword around, gripping it by the blade and swinging the hilt like a hammer).  Warhammers in medieval times were specialized for striking armor.  Hacking with a sword has approximately zero effect on steel plates, but a hammer can be extremely effective.

"And the hammer is too small for a war. The character does some carpentry?"

I would say this hammer is actually too big for fighting, historically speaking.  Real warhammers were very small -- about the size of a tomahawk.  Anything larger would be unwieldy and thus useless.  This doesn't look much like any warhammer that I'm familiar with, but there are plenty of uses for a regular hammer in a wartime context, whether knocking dents out of his armor or driving stakes into the ground for fortification.

I think the hammer seems small due to most games making them huge most of the time. Something you would wield with two hands. I was not aware that they are as small as a tomahawk though. very interesting.

Thanks for explanation. I'm ignorant and never thought carpentry-sized hammer would do so much harm through iron helmet. Most games for some reason tend to employ large two handed mauls, frequently larger than the characters carrying them (in one hand!).

yeah, I love the hammer!  I like that it's not comically oversized but still looks like it'd hurt alot to get hit by it!  It also gives the otherwise very clean, knightly warrior a slightly darker hue, since it is such a primitive and brutal weapon.

I also thought the free hand read ok like it was resting on the end of the hammer handle, but you might try extending the handle just to see if it helps.
