Many years ago, this concept by Fredrik over on the Doomworld forums was considered as a possible replacement for the Freedoom cyberdemon. Several years later I went on to take this concept and make it a reality, rendering a full set of sprites for a private build of the Freedoom project.

However, it still looks a bit too similar to Doom's Cyberdemon conceptually, so it ultimately did not make it into the main project.
