Need rudimentary top down character graphics for prototyping

Not asking for much here, just something better than ovals for prototyping purposes.

Basically it's a top down game, almost RTS like with a fantasy setting.  I'd like to layer the characters from top down, Head, shoulders, arms, legs.  Probably need a bit of torso in there eventually.  There's going to be a lot of troops on screen, so I don't want them taking up too much room.

Really all I need is a few pieces to play around with, some spare body parts.  I picture the head and shoulders as being the most dominant aspects visually, but I'm not picky.  Just need something basic I can use to work out the basic flow and timing of combat.

Some game data you can salvage:

  • FreeCraft (GPL)
  • BOFH (BSD)
  • OGA: "Top-Down"

Look specifically at this sprite; it has top down as well as isometric renderings.

THanks, that should give me enough to work with.
