I actually liked better the low-res ones, have you thought of rendering 3d to 2d models like they did in the earlies 2000s?

Yes, but with such a low resolution as 32x32 it doesn't look good, it's similar to font -- at very low resolutions it's better to have manually drawn bitmaps rather than rendering from vector format. However I am thinking about creating 3D models of these sprites, then you could try how it would actually look (I think at 64x64 it would be usable). We'll see.
