The tilt controls work just as well as the touch. Honestly while implementing tilt is cool in its own way, it really doesn't improve the fun factor of the game substantially. Don't get me wrong I like the option for tilt, but what is really needed is more interesting levels. Maybe different ships, power-ups, different weapons, waves of enemies, boss fights... I've only made it to level 8 so far, so maybe there is something that comes later which might blow me away. Another option might be more story or strategy elements involved with picking levels. Like a branching choose your missions to reach a goal thing. The touch sensitivity when selecting levels is not any better. For you reference I use a Samsung Galalxy Note 2.
Played the updated version, level 5 is much more playable thank you :). I think a tilt option for controls would be interesting to try. I'd probably leave the option of touch or tilt as most games do. I think doing both kinds of missions would help make the game more interesting as well. One other problem I seem to have is that the touch isn't sensitive enough when I select levels. I have to press far harder than I think I should. Keep up the good work. :)
This game has cool retro graphics. The controls are interesting albeit a little difficult. I didn't have the patience or a strong enough desire to beat level 5. IMHO the game goes from too easy to WAAAAy too difficult between level 4 and 5. The count down before I can start shooting is kind of maddening because the enemy ships are moving closer to the friendly ship while the count down is happening. Although I didn't get too far in this game I doubt that as it exists now there is much playability in this game model. I see it getting very repetitive very quickly. Perhaps more of a wave of enemies system where you score points or get shot by them but don't die instantly would be better. Or better yet a star fox type game, dodging asteroids, shooting enemies, going through hoops, getting power-ups, etc... Anyway I like the graphics and this game has potential. If you make changes or improvements let me know. I'd happily test play it again. :)
Oh anther play option that occurred to me because of the somewhat difficult controls. How about a space shooting game that simulates being a gunner on a Millennium Falcon type ship. Meaning the player isn't in control of the ship, just the guns. Please take or leave my suggestions and criticism. I have no idea how to make games, but I do understand that it must be a lot of hard work, and I appreciate your creative efforts!
@Aleksandro- Cool music! Thatnks for telling me about using my art as a "cover" or whatever, it made my day.
@Jasper- That probably would look cool. If someone REALLY wanted me to I would, but I'll probably just leave this one as is. I uploaded a new space scene here: http://opengameart.org/content/spaaaaaaace-scene , which has a little more going on in the background.
I wanted to figure out how to use photoshop touch on my phone and the best way to learn an art program is to actually make something so I made a planet! Hopefully someone around here will find it useful =)

Sure, take your time! :)
Awesome! If you get a chance send me a file of the modified image at (myusername) (at) gmail .com I'm glad you can use it :)

Oops, guess it took too long to upload for the contest :/ Oh, well, it was a fun scene to make.
Great game! Beautiful, fun, and worth the price :)
