What happened to Openclipart?
Site says protected
Twitter account says it is ddos protection.
But some people claim twitter account and site got hacked.
Some other claim they try to get donations before closing the site forever.
Does anyone have any reliable info about the site?
think it all got hacked, website, twitter and what everelse they have. think they have control back but are moving the sites and testing it. havemt disclosed who has hacked them.
EDIT:
it would appear that they were definatly hacked where noone could login or signin to the website, 'Denial of access' for the community members and owners. Was down for about 20 days. Rejon says he has control back and everything is safe but has said he will keep the site down for now, but is still accepting donations, hence the website frontpage message. Just have to keep checking the site until its up and running again. :)

it is still down, I can't believe no one created a torrent or some other kind of backup
You can follow their Twitter feed for status updates, but it isn't updated very often.(sorry, you already knew about the Twitter feed)Also, almost everything hosted on OpenClipart.org can be found on clker.com. Submissions imported from the OpenClipart library are labelled as "SHARED BY: OCAL".
Nice. It looks like it is unlikely to come back any time soon.
Ya, who knows. Doesn't seem to be much activity around it.
https://freesvg.org/
seems to have taken over much of the openclipart content

Thanks Julius. Yes it does look like they did a pretty decent job. I recognize a lot of the icons when I search "fantasy", for example. Wikimedia Commons might be another good place to store such images, but it would be a lot of work to transfer them over.
