Comments
Off the hook! This set is amazing!
Demo is pretty hot too!
Even though I know it's just a rough sketch designed more to show off the assets than anything else, I still have two comments on the demo to share.
1) Needs a 'jump and strike' - there were a few spots where the enemy placement made the lack of an airborne attack particulalry painful (specifically blue ghost hovering between two pillars).
2) Enemy 'disappear' flame puff seems to be centered at the spot where they are stuck. Visually it would make more sense if it was centered at the enemies feet.
Thanks so much for sharing! You're talents are unreal and we're very lucky to have you as a contributor on OGA.
You always make cool shit
THank for the feedback. Indeed is just a rough demo to show the assets in action. Making a real game would take longer than the actual assets and its not my priority at the moment.
Cheers.
even this statue is brilliant. amazing work!
Very nice. Thank you!
Will us this in my son's Scratch project :)

"You CAN use these assets in your own free or paid projects.
You CAN modify these assets for use in your own projects.
You CANNOT distribute or resell these assets by themselves.
You CANNOT sell a modified version of these assets by themselves."
@morad: I only see that line in the demo. There are no fonts in the actual submission files, so I think it's clear.
Demo is not part of submission? Then why is it inculded in the archive?
For example, Phaser-code-gothicvania-cemetery/assets/sprites has enough characters to restore whole font, especially together with other ansimuz's uploads, which also include somepx fonts.
Good point, I hadn't thought to look in the Demo files which are indeed included with the submission.
The demo files do indeed contain characters from the fonts, but not the actual complete font set itself. Just some pre-rendered text snippets like 'Press Enter' and 'thanks for playing'
Pretty sure that all falls safely under:
' "You CAN use these assets in your own free or paid projects.
You CAN modify these assets for use in your own projects."
However, I suppose you could debate whether that language allows you to release your modifications under a different license (such as CC-BY 4.0 here) but I'd think that's gotta be implied especially if the license allows paid projects which are almost certain to come under a different license.
So I can take these text screens, cut letters out of them, create a font and publish it under CC-BY 4.0? Any gurantee somepx wont sue me, and if, he indeed sues, won't win the case? I asked somepx directly, he didn't give direct answer and removed my question, being afraid that I will scare customers with my talks about lawsuit.
Yes, Morad, that is correct: you can cut letters out of the screens, create a new font, and publish it under CC-BY if you wanted. Copyright protects fonts, but not typefaces. I don't think that is advisable since it may still piss people off, but it is technically legal to do.
Is the font itself contained in the download or just applications of the typeface?
I know what you are saying, but I'm pretty sure this is just a general hazard of the font world.
If you re-assembled the font and tried to SELL it as a FONT, then somepx might do something, and at the very least would be very upset since it's obvious the goal of the license is to keep you from re-selling the font.
Note that all those clauses are tempered by the expression 'by themselves', so I think including snippets of the font as part of a larger package (like you are wont to do with a game) is unlikely to be a problem.
Also note that US Copyright Law provides 0 protection for Bitmap fonts, and protects only source files (true type, freetype, etc) for vectorized fonts. Rasterized renderings of a font saved as jpg, png are not protected. That's US law, other countries are different, see here for a nice summary:
https://www.crowdspring.com/blog/font-law-licensing/
Interesting that somepx deleted your question, did you ask about this submission specifically or just generally about cutting up the font and then re-assembling it?
@MedicineStorm:
Just application of the typeface. Like I said, snippets like 'Press Enter' but not the actual complete, assembled font.
@withthelove: (Regarding font law vs typeface law) ^that, thank you. Much better put than what I said. :)
P.S. I can see no license conflict with this submission.
Great job
I used your statue sprite in my game: https://lucas-c.itch.io/undying-dusk
Thank you!!
very nice... reality
thnx bro
This art was featured in a new indie bootleg Megadrive/Genesis game called "Hayato's Journey"!
(I don't have anything to do with that game, I saw it on youtube)
These assets were used in the music video for Nick Lutsko's "Halloween Night, 1999"
