I started out on a mission to unify the various 32x32 castle tilesets into a consistent, LPC-compatible style, and I got a little carried away. All the castles had something I liked---Zabin's had those great towers with the sloped walls, Evert's had the curved merlons, theidiotmachine's had my favorite color scheme and some really nice shading/details, and Daniel Armstrong's had those great windows and doors. On the other hand, there were things about each of them that I didn't like---Zabin's had a bit too much texture, the castle from the LPC base assets didn't have quite enough, etc.
So I converted everything to the same palette and then adjusted the shading and details until they looked somewhat consistent. The styles are still different enough that they don't really look great as part of the same building, but they can at least exist in the same world or town. Having them all in the same color let me do a few recolors too, so there's a light and a dark version which maintain the same style but have somewhat different feels. I've tried to make the layout logical and space-efficient, but I've kept the three distinct styles in separate sections so they can be broken apart if necessary. There are some unused tiles marked in green.
Finally, I added a bunch of architectural features---equilateral arches, rose windows, pinnacles, flying buttresses, crockets and so on which can be sprinkled on to buildings made with any of the sets to give the piece more of a Gothic feel. They can also be used to build churches, cathedrals, etc.
CC-BY-SA 3.0 was the only license common to all the submissions, but I'm willing to license the whole thing more liberally if the other contributors agree.

Nice!
Thats cool! Thanks for putting in the effort and posting these!
Thanks for doing this and also letting me know. I appreciate it. Good job. I like how you gathered the assets together and worked on recolorizing/details to make them fit together better. That helps me a bunch! Some of these assets went under my radar so thanks for bringing them to my attention.
Awhile back I started another castle but unfortunately I haven't played with it in awhile. I plan to and this new stuff here will add a lot of variations to make it even more interesting :) Thanks
P.S. Here's my thrend with the WIP Castle I'm doing http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/best-oga-jrpg-tiles-remixed-db32wip But I can't seem to post to that thrend now and update it with my latest stuff...says I'm flagged for spam...grrr...
Try posting to that forum with the same content now, zabin. You shouldn't get the spam thing.
Thank you MedicineStorm!
Thanks Zabin!
MedicineStorm, can you do the same for me? I'm unable to comment on theidiotmachine's submission http://opengameart.org/content/another-lpc-style-castle , keep getting hit by the spam filter :(
Weird. I thought I got both of you at the same time... anyway, you should also be good to go, now. :)
This is awesome, thank you! I licenced it under all the ones I thought would be useful, including CC0, so go nuts. Really, really cool.
Great work. Castles are great.
Hey that last preview with the wood tiles, tower roofs, and gate are not available in the downloads section. I would definately like to play with that art but where's it at?
Sorry, last time someone asked I guess I uploaded it as a preview instead of a download by accident. Fixed. It's under the same license as everything else.
These tiles can work in platformers too!
