[PAID] Seeking Talented Artist to Produce Spell Effects and Animations
Hey OGA!
Project Background: Arena of Kings (AoK) is an online, multiplayer, 4v4 micro battle arena game deployed exclusively in the web browser with use of HTML5 and JS capabilities. AoK proudly encapsulates traditional RPG elements such as items, trading, spell customization, crafting, guilds, class mastery, etc. despite having zero "pay to win" gimmicks.
The main attraction of AoK is the well designed, fast-paced, highly replayable, competitive team battles.
As passionate, dedicated developers, we have transitioned from the "code world" to the "art world", focusing on commissioning talented artists to bring life into a beautiful shell of a project that we feel will revolutionize how gamers view standalone browser games.
Quick look at our artistic direction:

[Example in-game animation: 10 total playable classes with idle/run/attack/cast/death] - much more examples can be provided in emails
(Click --> Assassin)
Commission Details: Villain Games LLC is seeking 2 highly flexible, talented artists that can authentically create high quality, high realism spell animations (delivered as individual png files that we will pack into a sheet) that are synonymous with our artistic direction (see above hyperlinks).
Both artists should feel comfortable matching our art style, are happy to communicate frequently (to be on the same page with each other), while their workflow will be streamlined and made as painless as possible via our provided descriptive, all-inclusive spell spreadsheet (shared on google docs .. we will be one small, happy family!). You two will essentially be a team, knocking these down one by one (~140 total spells with ranging difficulty but most likely only about half need artwork .. more on that below).
Obviously we are not looking for space-shooter pixely animations - instead we're looking to follow the high realism trend shown in the brief images above; so at least one candidate should be skilled in particle effects (Adobe AE or whatever particle engine you work best in .. but the final deliverable must be zipped up as separate, individual png files), and at least one candidate should be skilled in illustrative-based animations; this way we are equipped to deal with different types of spells.
Character models have a 45 degree angle, thus the spells should fit/match that orientation.
Examples of spell animations we like:
(Obviously the spells we need will be much smaller than some of the following)

Applicant Requirements:
- Produce and deliver undisputedly authentic, genuine work.
- Can work on an indie budget on a paid-per-asset basis.
- Responsive, available, professional (in terms of delivery and production .. personality-wise, casual works!), and most importantly flexible (as you can imagine, this is a bigger job and naturally will have some twists and turns, workarounds to figure out, etc.).
- Proven portfolio showcasing mastery in your field AND example animations of spells you have created OR if you have supreme confidence in your ability that you can deliver what we need, I'd be delighted to speak further!
- Passionate about collaborating with elite, like-minded freelance artists, improving your individual skill as an artist, and are proud of every piece of work you create.
- Rest assured knowing that this project will have an alpha phase, beta phase, and a release.
Payment Structure:
Because we will have spell animations of varying difficulty (ex: a shield is significantly easier than a claw coming up from the ground performing a squeezing animation, and payment should consider difficulty), what I propose is a static 5-level payment structure. We will determine the difficulty of all spells, assigning a number 1-5 on them. There will be a fixed payment for a 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 difficulty spell which never changes. Specific rates can be worked out, but if you have rates in mind (paid per asset only), please kindly include them in your message.
For artists we commission we require the signing of our independent contractor agreement (to maintain the integrity of the commission) as well as our standard non-disclosure agreement (both via DocuSign). We will never have any difficulty providing payment for accepted assets immediately and have never had any conflicts with our commissions.
If this sounds like something you'd like to be part of, please contact me directly via email at jobs@arenaofkings.com.I kindly request that in your email you provide some working examples of spells you have created and/or can provide some clear, specific notion of what you are capable of creating so we aren't left guessing :).
Thanks guys, remain awesome!
