Guidelines -- Read this before you request art!
So, you're working on a game project, and you'd like the OGA community to help you create some art. Excellent! We're happy to assist you, provided you meet the following conditions:
- Your project is open source. While many of the assets here on OGA are usable in non-open-source software, our primary objective is to provide support to open source projects. While our position here at OGA is that you ought to be able to license your content however you want, there are enough open source projects out there to keep us busy for years to come.
- You've described your project in detail. It's not enough to have a single paragraph blurb about what your project is. There are a lot of projects out there that need help with their art -- in order to show us that you're serious, we need to see some definite direction and planning on your part. Mind you, we're not asking you to type up a decscription of your game if you've already done it elsewhere. A link to a good description is fine.
- You've said what you want. Be prepared to provide a list of the resources you're looking for. It doesn't have to be complete -- you can always add to it later. It's just that if you want art help, we need to know what you're looking for, and we want to be sure you'll be able to use the art we create.
- While not absolutely required, it's extremely helpful to have at least a playable beta of your project. A lot of FOSS game projects die on the vine before ever becoming playable. As artists, we want to be certain the art we spend time creating will be put to use.
Thanks for your interest!
Peace,
Bart
