Retro spinning CD
Retro Spinning CD
An animation of a CD spinning with the appearance of image compression for an old video game.
This is a loose replica of the "missing CD" animation that plays at the start of the video game Lego Island if you don't insert the game disc. That animation is a meme on the internet and a source for Youtube Poops.
This animation is given as frames of the CD spinning and the frames can be found in the folder "Frames". The frames have transparent backgrounds, so you can place them atop whatever background you want, black or otherwise.
If you want, you can also recreate the animation with a label on the CD. To do so, you need to have Blender installed. Edit the image "Label.png" to whatever you want as your label; however, only the areas of the image conterminous with the white areas of the image "Label mask.png" will fit on the label in the resulting animation. With your label edited, load the Blender file, then render an animation. Your frames will appear in the folder "With label" within the "Frames" folder. You need to reload Blender each time you edit the label image.
In the context of video game development, one natural use for this would be as part of a loading screen for a retro video game, maybe with text reading "Now loading".
Enjoy!
