Unknown Horizons - Establish a new colony in this real-time strategy

Hi everyone,

I would like to share a project that I'm very passionate about. It's a game called Unknown Horizons.

Unknown Horizons is a free (GPLv2) isometric real-time-strategy game with an emphasis on civilisation development and economy management.

Inspired by the original Anno game (Anno 1602/1602 A.D), the player starts by controlling a single sailing ship in an archipelago of islands with the aim of establishing a settlement by constructing various buildings/structures and slowly developing this settlement into a strong colony.

Checkout some of the game's screenshots for an idea of what it's about.

Unknown Horizons

If you want to give the game a try, packages for Windows/Linux/Mac OS X are available to download from the Unknown Horizons website.

The team is always looking for artists to help bring the game world to life. Right now we need graphics artists as well as audio and video production artists. The project uses blender for all rendering work.

Have a look at the project's OGA profile and collection to get a feel for some of the existing art used by Unknown Horizons. All of the existing media content is available under a free license, with the vast majority being CC-BY-SA 3.0.

Play the game and if you want to get involved (including offering any suggestions or ideas) let us know. The team is very welcoming to everyone, regardless of their level of experience. You'll find us on the IRC channel (#unknown-horizons@irc.freenode.net).

We'd love to here from you :)
